Q: Will the Google Chromecast app be made compatible in time?
Only if Athom implements it in their own migration, we don’t have access directly to the Z-Wave chip’s memory.
The same for ZigBee.
But it work when buying a new Homey Pro (2019), you just do a restore of the backup.
Shouldn’t that be possible for Homey Pro (2023) or is the differens in HW (z-wave/zigbee chip) causing problem?
Currently it isn’t possible, though Athom did say that the amount of “complaints” did make them reconsider to implement a migration path.
So it might happen, but it might also not happen, maybe just a bit sooner after early access release then initially was planned.
As the software isn’t finished yet for Homey Pro (early 2023) either, it can also happen that issues might arrise because of that.
Might also just delay the release of Homey Pro (early 2023) if they do want to make the migration stable.
Q: will I be able to continu to develop my (verified partner) SDK3 apps on my Homey Early 2016 or does this require the new Homey Pro?
Because it will keep running badly, or at least, it will run much beter if every app is SDK3 and mostly: if SDK2 doesn’t need to be in the sourceode anymore, it’s much beter.
It otherwise leaves a mess.
Do you have a TV with browser you can send and URL to?
Or can you send a URL to speakers?
Or an URL to Alexa?
If so, use the Google Services App to create voice.
(You can use the Non-Cloud without setting up anything)
While i do agree, this is not realistic in any way. They cannot change stuff like that or it might be 1 or 2 years later before the product sees the light of day.
I would have prefered to keep the led and speaker also, but these are the products that are gonna come (right now), so pick it or leave it is al we can do.
But i did find a sort of solution: [Vote] Feature App: Homesh: Connect 2023 to Old Homey for Led, Speaker, Zwave(satellite) and network resource - Apps - Homey Community Forum
Already integrated Soundboard in the Homesh Apps:
- What is the quality of the power supply for Homey Pro 2?
- Number of Zigbee devices supported?
- More detail on the SSH - what types of things can be done with it?
The price is very high… I like the homey bridge, yet
As there was a complete offtopic Alexa discussion / workaround in this topic goïng on I split these Questions and all Reply’s to a new topic.
Please stay on topic: so formulate your Questions to Athom / Emile for the AMA session!

I’m keen on the benefits of the new device and have ordered, but I am concerned on your reliance on the motivation of the developing community and the efforts of your customers to rebuild from the ground up; Personally I have developed my configuration over a period of time and investment and won’t be pleased at being left with a blank that cost GBP400.
How are you going to address these two (very important areas IMHO) as there is a danger that the hardware gets a facelift but the overall solution takes a significant step backwards.
developer migration and migration support? An extended availability of legacy to overlap both products while the new is established?
Unless there is a way to migrate from current Homey Pro to the new one this is going to have to wait. TBH I’m assuming there is as to not have a way to migrate would be an enormous error
Q1. When have you plan for one working migration from old Homey pro to the new one? Since you did not give a clear message, I refrained from a pre-order! It’s to much work to reconnect all my zwave and Zigbee devices, many in the wall some ones just don’t pair that easily.
I’m also interested in having the option to backup and restore homey pro 2022’s setup through IP connection (WIFI or Ethernet) from a PC.
That would be a lot lot more convenient than through USB !
Are you planning such a thing ?
You should prioritize migration from 2016-2019! It’s a No Go to start fresh with all devices from scratch… And again retyping all advanced flows? Realy? Good luck! If you have a Go for that, I will buy the new Pro and some hubs
You should also remember that in the worst case scenario, many of your sensors and actuators may no longer work, as Athom is also discontinuing support for SDK2 apps on the old Homey. If the apps have not been updated by D-Day, you can only download them from GitHub and install them. A restore of such apps will then also no longer work.
The days of the sphere are numbered. Why can’t Athom let old Homey die with dignity and still have to actively euthanise him?
Hi @Emile, I would be interested in your opinion on my thoughts.
Forgot about that one. Agree @Undertaker !
So… a long way to go to make the switch then…mmm…
Don’t be so dramatic SDKv2 apps won’t stop working on Homey Pro (Early 2019) or earlier. Even when restoring a backup they will be restored.
