Hey dear Homey Team,
Thank you for offering self hosted server on docker support that made me fully reconsider Homey.
I am migrating from OpenHab and also tried HA.
Both works and I am not here to vomit on alternative solutions that are doing the job very well however let’s be honest: UX of Homey is HIGHLY above them: For the first time in IoT I feel treated with interest
Not taken as stupid by a super complex system asking me to memorize entities, integrations, virtual channels, and so and so right after the install.
In openhab I had to create manually all the floors and rooms of my home in a tree.
But it is so unfriendly and error prone to do it takes really long time and efforts till it is as expected. Homey and the assistant solved that for me in what 2minutes?
How impressed I was!
And then comes all the integrations which have so complex names and so on in other solution. Here you add an app “Philips Hue” , then you add a device (we don’t care that it needs to pair a bridge homey is smart he knows), it ask you which bridge it is using, you select it, it ask you to press the button and BOOM you have it.
Dashboards are beautiful! (Out of Fibaro for me all concurents are so ugly… it works but wow… and to make it nice looking it takes so much efforts…) → Not in Homey ![]()
Love it! Take my money and wish you full success in the future!
