Ring Security - Extend Heimdall with Ring Security products

Thank you!

Ive just moved away from Hubitat to homey pro and the last thing I can’t seem to get to work is my V1 contact sensors. I remove the battery to reset the sensor and the light keeps flashing 3 times in sequence but the hub never seems to find the sensors. Ive even got a brand new one out the box and homey never seems to find them.

Anyone else have the same problem and any tips on getting them to work?

Many thanks

Who can help me with the following? As of today, I have added a Ring Keypad 2 to the alarm system I created using the fantastic app Heimdall. However, now that the Ring is added, a problem has arisen: when the alarm is triggered, the Keypad automatically deactivates the alarm.

The flow I created and the settings of the Ring app are as follows: see photos

I had to add another Ring motion sensor V2 to my Homey today and the paring guidance did not work. I then remembered an older post where I actually proposed a new pairing sequence, and that one worked.

Would it be possible to update the paring sequence to this procedure?

What works:

OPENING SCREEN TEXT:

  • Make sure you have the device’s pincode available. It is printed on the rear cover and on a separate leaflet included in the box
  • Press the pinhole in the battery compartment until the led becomes red. When the device is already paired to a network this requires only a short press. Alternatively, to completely reset the device, press the pinhole for about 10 seconds until the led becomes red.
  • Soon after, the green led will start repeated show short sequences of 3 blinks.
  • Press the front button for a few seconds until the blinking stops
WHEN PAIRING RECEIVED GO TO NEXT SCREEN
    SHOW TEXT:
  • press the front button for a few seconds again until the blinking stops.
WHEN TRIGGER RECEIVED GO TO NEXT SCREEN.
    SHOW TEXT:
    Enter the device’s pin code.

So is this key pad working well with Heimdall now? I need an input device for pet sitters and guests.

I was wanting to use my old ipad as a control center but haven’t figured out how to add a PIN code to a virtual button when disarming.

@Benvo , when the alarm fires you activate and immediately deactivate the alarm, why would you do that. I think there is your problem.

Hi, unfortunately I can’t pair the ring V2 keyboard (it asks me to hold down the 1 button for 3 seconds, but it doesn’t work)
Help me please!

Hi there .. new here so hoping I’m posting in correct place

I have Ring Security app running and so far have added (3) Keypads v2 without issue and (2) of the contact sensors (v2 as well). All good … now iā€m trying to add a 3rd contact sensor (v2) and no matter what I try it won’t add.

I have factory reset the contact sensor but I’m trying to find out how to troubleshoot this. On the sensor itself it says ā€œModel 5AT3S2ā€ if that helps. The other sensors that were added were bought at the same time if that helps … just not sure what else to try. I will be adding more sensors tomorrow that have been previously used with Ring station … slowly pulling them away

Thank you

Paul

I just went through this …. need to push in the pinhole on the back first to reset the keypad and then when prompted need to hold 1 button down. Hope this helps

Bumping my post with an update … I have several other Ring ā€œModel 5AT3S2ā€ contact sensors and none of them will add to Homey. Right now I have three of them added (same model) without issue. How do I troubleshoot this? Thank you

Hi Paul,

Could you please restart yout Homey, wait a bit to let it settle and next try to add a new sensor. When it fails, please send a Diagnostics Report.

Hello,

I had a question. Currently, the V2 motion sensors don’t respond to motion continuously. So, when motion is detected, it only detects it once, then pauses for a while before detecting it again (I think this is to save battery life).

I was wondering if this also happens if I install the motion sensor in Homey using this app. Will it detect motion more frequently and more frequently? And what settings can I configure?

Also, I was wondering if and when an integration with the Ring Base Station will be available. If not, what is preventing this integration from being possible?

The basestation is integrated in the Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey app.
This app is just to add the Ring Alarm sensor devices through Z-Wave.

Hi Danee,

I really wanted to still use the base station to sound an alarm when alarm is triggering, also when an alarm triggerd that i will get an call, wich is done with the basestation.

Is there any way to keep this functionality with Heimdall

I don’t understand your use case. If you have a basestation, why are you using this app, and how does it relate to Heimdall?

I’d like to keep getting called by Ring when an alarm goes off. That’s my whole point. And that I can use the Ring Base Station’s speaker to sound an alarm.

Well, when adding the basestation through the Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey app it will function as it is, no changes are made to your system, you will just be able to access and control it in Homey.
Think it’s best to post your questions there as it has nothing to do with this app.
