Perhaps for thermostats it’s not allowed because they are showing the colored temperature always.
My guess as well. Probably it’s a tile with a custom status, and therefore the status indicator can’t be used.
I requested this to be selectable, while I also want the possibility to show the mode or status for instance, apart from the target temperature
