MPPT scanning on Huawei SUN2000 (Modbus 42054 & 42055)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently exploring the MPPT scanning settings on the Huawei SUN2000 inverter, and I’m curious whether anyone here has real‑world experience with these parameters.

In the new test version of my Homey app (Huawei FusionSolar Manager | Homey), I’ve integrated the relevant Modbus registers and can now enable and configure MPPT scanning directly from the app. On my own system, the feature was disabled by default, so I’ve now activated it for testing — but before I draw any conclusions, I’d really like to hear from others who have tried this.

The two Modbus registers involved are:

  • 42054 – MPPT Multi‑peak Scanning (R/W, E1)
    Enables or disables the MPPT multi‑peak / shade‑scanning feature.

  • 42055 – MPPT Scanning Interval (R/W, U1)
    Sets the interval (in minutes) between each MPPT sweep.

I’m especially interested in whether this feature is enabled on your systems by default or if it was also turned off like on mine.

And of course, I’d love to hear your practical insights:

  • Does enabling MPPT multi‑peak scanning improve yield or tracking stability?
  • Does the scanning interval make a noticeable difference?
  • Any downsides, such as unnecessary sweeps or reduced stability?
  • What interval values are you using — and why?

There’s very little hands‑on feedback available online, so any experiences or long‑term observations would be super helpful.
