Maybe im missing something with dashboards

We just purchased the Homey Pro to consolidate control over our smart devices.
We have Philips hue, LIFX, Ubiquiti cameras and plan to get some Ikea sensors.

I just started trying to make dashboards but perhaps im a software version behind becuase the instructions seem to show a prominent Dashboard button/tab. But it seems to be 1) buried in menus in the app (not helpful at all) and 2) doesn’t exist on the web/home interface.

Maybe I’m using this all wrong. But a handy dashboard for everything shouldn’t be 3 clicks deep in an app, and missing entirely from the web app, right ? (and also the online guide should match the user experience UX)

Welcome!

  1. On tablets the Dashboard tab is visible in the bottom bar in the app. On phones, its under “More”.
  2. Dashboards do not exist in the web app unfortunately.

To add to @BasMilius his post:

  • On a phone Dashboards are located under the More tab (thee dots);
  • The home page on a mobile device (phone/tablet) is also a dashboard (though specific for that device).

Thank you for the replies so quickly!

Yes, we were able to navigate to the More menu, then Dashboards, then select the Dashboard. Then you can toggle lights or view cameras etc. This is 4 clicks/taps to do anything!

(Add phone unlock and open app for a total of 6 interactions)

We just bought a house, and this Homey which is not cheap, with the goal of having one convenient control center for everything.

I’m just saying I sold the wife on an easy and efficient user experience, but it’s definitely not.

All the reviews and videos and media certainly don’t show this detail.

It is, however, possible to fix.

Nothing is simpler then a simple physical light switch!

You also have the option to add several Homey widgets directly on your phone’s/tablet’s home screen. E.g. a widget with buttons that start flows (e.g. a flow that switches on all lights in a room).

If you have an iPhone/iPad you can also start flows/create home screen buttons to flows using the iOS’ Shortcuts app.

Of course, in all cases you need to create those flows/moods once in Homey.

I think the dashboard that is displayed on the home screen of the Homey app is the one that you can access with the least amount of taps (1 to open the Homey app). So you could place your most frequently used items there.

You can add dashboard buttons to the home screen as well.
