Lighting Flow Assistance

I’m using a Philips Hue motion sensor in the bathroom and added an Aqara FP300 Presence Sensor. I haven’t found placement of just the FP300 to cover the entrance to the bathroom, the shower, and the bidet. Therefore, I decided to use both sensors. The Hue sensor detects when I enter the bathroom and turns on the lights quickly. The FP300 detects my presence in the rest of the bathroom and keeps the lights on while showering, brushing teeth, etc. However, my flow isn’t working as intended.

Once the motion alarms turn off for both sensors and it is between 6am and 11pm the 10 minute delay works and turns off the lights. However, the 11pm to 6am time delay does not turn off the lights. What am I missing?

Both sensors will make the zone ‘bathroom’ active.

To turn on the lights use the trigger ‘zone bathroom became active’

To turn off the lights:

‘zone bath room is inactive for 3 minutes ‘ and ‘its between 23:00 and 6:00’ then turn off lights

‘zone bath room is inactive for 10 minutes ‘ and ‘its between 6:00 and 23:00’ then turn off lights

One reason I can see that your initial flow is not working is that when exiting the bathroom, your FP300 might stop detecting motion when your are still leaving (and the Hue sensor is still detecting motion). The trigger of the FP300 motion alarm turning off will fire, but the flow will not continue past the check of the motion alarm of the Hue, and the lights will not turn off.

Also, if you have the slightest blindspot in your setup where neither of your sensors is detecting motion, the process for turning off the lights will be initiated, and lights will turn off whether or not you are still in the bathroom at that time. (They will turn on again as soon as motion is detected, but it might not be the most pleasant way of having things work.)

I fully agree with the solution proposed by Wim . It is the simplest one. Using the “zone becomes active” and “zone has been inactive for x minutes” WHEN cards will simplify your flow and resolve the issue of potential blindspots. Make sure that your motion sensors are not excluded from zone activity (typically a setting under advanced settings).
