I’ve got a lifetime license and I’m running SHS locally with a Local User, accessed via the server’s IP. That side works offline as expected.
My one remaining question is about the license check: how long can the server run fully offline before it needs to reach Athom’s servers to revalidate the license? I’ve seen it mentioned that nobody’s quite sure of the duration.
Has anyone actually run a lifetime-licensed SHS air-gapped for an extended period (weeks/months) and seen whether it keeps working, or whether it eventually goes offline until it can check in?
In the SHS 13.5.0 code there’s no offline time limit: the license is only checked during the handshake with Athom’s connect server, and if that server can’t be reached SHS just keeps retrying in the background while everything local keeps running. Remote access, updates and HTTPS certificate renewal need the cloud, but Local User sessions don’t expire while SHS is offline. The Homey app works on the LAN once you’re logged in, but logging in needs the phone to reach Athom, and I can’t see the app’s own code, so how long it lasts without Athom is the one part I can’t answer.
AFAIK this is 14 days. But it renews every 14 days, so if you’re lucky then you have 14 days left, but when the app refreshed the token 13 days ago, it will only last 1 day before it needs the internet again
