Homey stopped sending notifications

I’ve set up a flow in my Homey Pro (2022) that should send a warning notification to my iPhone if my drainage pump hasn’t consumed any energy during the past three hours. The flow worked perfectly during a nine-hour test period, but then it suddenly stopped sending notifications.

In the Homey app I can see that the flow itself is still running. However, when I now create new simple test flows, they don’t send any notifications either. I’ve tried deleting the flow and creating a new one, logging out of and back into Homey, power-cycling the Homey, and restarting my phone (among several other things). Nothing has helped.

My phone (iPhone 17 Pro) still receives notifications from other apps without any issues.

Does anyone know why Homey has stopped sending notifications and what I could try to fix this?

Are you sure you’re using “Push notifications“ (not “Timeline notifications”)? Also,

That model does not exist. The available Homey models are Homey Pro 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023, 2026 and mini.

Is “Critical Notifications” for the Homey smartphone app (still) enabled in the Notifications section on your iPhone?

I am not sure how many push notifications Homey has sent you, but I understand that there is a daily rate limit. Perhaps you hit that limit. Homey then stops sending those without any prior warning. If you start receiving notifications again the next day, then you had likely hit said limit.

Hello SunBeech!

Thank you very much for your reply. I was not aware that there is a daily limit on how many push notifications Homey can send. That could very well be the explanation. As part of my flow, I have a minute counter. In order to verify during testing that it was working, I had added a card that sent a notification for every minute it counted. For a period, there were many notifications. This card is now removed. However, I have not yet started receiving notifications again. I hope it will resume shortly.

Thanks once again for your reply.

Hi DirkG! Thank you for your reply! Yes, “Critical Notifications” for the Homey smartphone app is enabled in the Notifications section on my iPhone.

I received another suggestion that the problem may be that, during a period when I was testing my flow, I sent a very large number of notifications and that Homey has a daily limit on how many can be sent. I hope the issue is that simple and that Homey will be able to start sending push notifications again tomorrow.

It resumes after 24h, or after a Homey restart.

To save (test) notifications which I don’t need to read immediately, I use Simple Log app cards instead of push/timeline notifications.
Simple Log can’t suffer from rate limits.
An other way to see what’s (not) happening is to use the Audit app. No flow cards needed.
