thanks for the info, i think i need the ikea hub if i want to be able to update the firmware in their switches and bulbs anyways, so i am not to bummed about ordering it, if they are actively working on fixing their matter devices i would like to be able to update them, and homey does not have that ability yet, they say its coming so that is nice.
ill stay on the homey ecosystem, i really like the flows:) ill buy one month of the self hosted and if its still working out ill grab a lifetime lic.
Yes, I totally agree. It’s not production ready IMO and should only be used in limited testing environments. It never finds the Matter device and the 1 time it did, the device just went offline after a few hours. I’ve completely given up on this whole Matter thing and would recommend to look for alternatives like ZigBee, WiFi or Cloud device which are proven for many years and will be guaranteed to keep working for many years to come.
all matter devices where off line this morning, had to restart homey and they all came back, so is that matters fault or homeys?
its a shame because the switches are so affordable and very handy where i have them stuck to the wall, i am in an apartment and the electrical boxes for the light switches are very shallow and will not fit normal wifi type light switches, and there is no neutral wire, so that makes my choices very limited.
Irony of it all. Today my Nuki Thread lock and my Tado x devices have all gone offline. I can restart the Tado app and that brings them back for a short time. My lock just fails to connect.
Its working fine in SmartThings, HA and to test I added it to a Homepod. They all work perfect
Homey, just a straight up no. Like i said, depends on the wind!
Reverted back to bridging them all using the HA app for now.
I created my own border router using OTBR and a Sonoff antenna. Then created my own thread network.
When trying to commission IKEA devices using Homey SHS nothing worked. Error: no border router found.
I ended up using home assistant only for adding devices to my thread network. Then sharing them with homey. Homeys then adds them to the Homey Fabric. After that I can shut down home assistant again. Not ideal, but it’s working.
My test setup with two Kajplats bulbs is online for four days now. Seems stable.
