Hi everyone, I have an issue with my Homey pro 2023 device. It suddenly went offline and it doesn’t seem to come back online by itself. The problem is that I’m currently away from home for about a week, so I can’t physically restart it or check the connection.
The device is connected via LAN. Is there anything I can try remotely to bring it back online, or any suggestions on what might have happened?
Do you have a WiFi mesh system like TP-Link Deco? In most cases, those can be remotely accessed via the cloud. You can try to block the Homey from your network and then unblock it again (that forces it to connect to the network again).
no, homey connected directly to asus router
Have you connected the router to your Asus account? I don’t have experience with ASUS routers, but in the mobile app it states that the router can be linked to an account for remote management:
I did it, but that asus app is useless
Inside the ASUS app, you can block the Homey and then unblock it about a minute later. If that doesn’t fix it, there’s likely nothing else you can do about this issue remotely.
In case there’s no-one to water the plants or to feed the cat (Homey does all that, right?):
to power cycle Homey for a minute, consider this for future issues:
Place a wifi socket, like a Shelly model, between Homey’s power brick and the mains outlet.
This way, you can initiate a power cycle by using the Shelly phone app to operate the Shelly wifi socket;
This, because you can control Shelly wifi devices by using the cloud, independent from Homey.
