I don’t think I am missing the point Robert, you talk about the representation of Booleans in scripts etc. The language (script, flow etc.) uses symbols/signs, or what ever, to implement executable logic.
FYI: On the support site, If you choose one of the ‘Platform’ items/apps, then you do get extra fields in which you can input your question, add screenshots and create a ticket:
@SunBeech Thank you SO MUCH! Used it immediately ha ha! ![]()
But you’re still missing the point: using a visual representation to pass booleans to scripts or external systems is a recipe for problems.
Not only is it simply not convention to use ✓/⨯ to represent booleans, but whenever Athom decides to change this visual representation to something else, scripts and external systems will break. Therefore, they should use conventional values under the hood, like true/false or 1/0.
Even Athom’s own web app has issues with these booleans:
Also, there are inconsistencies between Homey models, since the older models do use conventional values (which is why this thread got started):
This has a very heavy LLM-smell to it. It’s plain BS.
@robertklep - Thank you so much, this means that this is “expected” as they changed this for all users to be super dumbed down… wow, I cannot imagine the reason. But this means that:
- Its not only for me. Any type of backup/restore will not fix this. I will use the current setup moving forward.
- I have to accept it and work around it for all flows. Not going to be super fun and lots of hours but it has to be done then.
- its so weird that they took something good and made it super bad without any known nice intention… must be something behind the scenes perhaps that “required” this change… who knows.
- OK, you (or mostly Athom actually ha ha) kind of sold me this last doubt to start using Home Assistant instead. I’m guessing that’s what you’re using? If so, do you recommend any specific model etc for a rookie who is not a super-coder or wants breaking changes every new release? Something pretty solid, stable and not super hard coding/integration works…
Many thanks again to Everyone who helped me in this thread, very appreciated!
Yes, I’m using Home Assistant.
The easiest way of getting started is probably an HA Green, with additional Zigbee/Z-Wave dongles if you need them.
Thank you for your interresting comment, and sorry I am honest in what I am writing above, and yes I really think you can use what ever symbols you like (so Athom can) . The word sun or
is the representation of sun, and so is ‘
