I have a ViewSonic VSD242, which is perfect for displaying dashboards. I use it to show dashboards from Home Assistant. Now that Homey is coming out with its own dashboard, I would like to use it to display Homey’s dashboard, but this isn’t possible due to the outdated Android version. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make this work?
You can try to sideload the app. So download the apk file of the homey app somewhere and install that one on your device…
If you Google homey apk I’m sure you will find the app.

I just checked, and it looks like that device runs Android 5.1 out of the box, which launched back in 2014.
Unfortunately, I don’t think sideloading will work in this case. The Homey app likely has dependencies that didn’t exist back then.
You might want to check if there’s a custom ROM based on a newer version of Android for the device. XDA Forums could be a good resource for that.
Thank you, but unfortunately I can’t find any custom ROMs for this. Let’s hope a web version of the dashboard will be released eventually
