Homey 2.0.0 Experimental discussion [EN]

If you first connect to Homey and after that internet connection was loosed, you can use Homey without internet. But If you close the app and open again it won’t connect. I wrote to Athom support about it and may be they do something.
You can use home kit, and may be google assistant (don’t use) without internet.

It appears my sunset flow isn’t triggered here either.
I’m using the internal/Athom Date & Time based “The sun sets in… 30mins” trigger. I can edit the flow alright and tried redoing it but to no avail.

Same issue here, “The sun sets in… 30mins” trigger doesn’t trigger. The regular “De zon ondergaat” trigger does work.

Presence detection on Android (galaxy s8) not working. iPhone XR works 100%

Why doesn’t this surprise me. Athom doesn’t seem to realise that people actually want to be able to use their product. They seem to focus on making it pretty and sexy rather than robust and usable :frowning:

I’m really starting to feel that I could better have thrown my 300 euro’s towards a raspberry pi and a few USB-connected antennas to use with Home Assistant or one of the other ones.

Agree with you. When I bought it a year ago it was independent home center. Right now it needs internet, cloud and app.
Throwing away connection via local IP, it is stupid. As I know, they did it to make secure connection. So hackers would be harder to hack into your system and without internet, you too :joy:

Where can I find older version (231) of the android app?
Issue with settings of my Fibaro sensor and can’t find a way to go to the advanced setting within the 2.0 app

i might have missed something, but Athom did not specify they would remove the local connection right? As far as I know, they had some bugs with the app where the local connection wouldnt work correctly, which they appear to have fixed in rc3. Whenever i unplug my internet from the router, so my wifi is only local lan, i can still connect my android phone to homey. Data has been turned off on my phone as well. Local appears to function correctly for me. I understand that some functionality might be missing, but maintaining my homey is still possible without internet connection for me right now.

I feel like everything has started to stabilise after the last update… It doesn’t randomly hang or stop working (as much at least). It’s still slow, I was hoping that 2.0 would make homey faster since there’s always a lag between pressing buttons and lights turning on etc… But maybe that’s hardware-related? I tried the Animus Heart the other week and it’s lightning fast compared to homey, but then again most things don’t work and they have non existent support and community… which makes it pointless so I will stick to homey…

It would be good if this is iOS app bug. But they said they now connection is secure, so they need to make a certificate on the server. I thought that is way homey is need internet.

I tried the Animus Heart

Wow, talk about copy/paste :smirk:

@Fire69 think it was actually IFTTT which pioneered the “If this then than” concept, which Homey (and many others) copied…

Yeah, I know, but this does look A LOT like the Flow layout, right? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s actually a little simpler (even less complex than ifttt) to navigate but also not as diverse… Anyway, that was off topic, sorry for bringing it up. I guess I just wanted to say that I’m very happy with the Homey forums and customer service, I feel like there’s an actual community and people who want to help which makes it so much more fun and worth while =)

I’m happy to hear that, but can you try/check the following:
Break your internet connection, reboot your phone and Homey (so suppose you have had a power-drop and your internet connection is down for whatever reason) and keep your internet connection down (so suppose Athom’s back-end services are down, or your ISP has issues).

  • Does the Homey sphere come up properly? (can you use physical light switches, etc)
  • Can you start the 2.0 app on your phone?
  • Can the app contact the Homey sphere via your local LAN

Just a quick one. If anyone is finding the Android App for Homey 2.0 slow, there is a chance it could be to do with a large number of notifications. I had 3000+ notifications I hadn’t cleared and the entire app was running painfully slow.

Solution was to navigate to More > Settings > Notifications and then click each category and choose “Remove” to clear them. Once that was done, everything now runs smoothly again.

I seem to have a problem when I try to update (currently on rc2). When I select to update (started with RC4 and now RC7) nothing happens, when eventually the it times out, and most often disconnects from the cloud (known issue though).

Any ideas on how I can upgrade?

EDIT: Never mind, this time it was actually updated to RC7…

Exile82 same problem here.
i have made a call at atom fore my problem.
Meanwhile my way to update is to do a reset of homey and keep de data.
Homey then also update to the new release you can see on the home screen of the app.
today i could update to rc.4 because rc.7 is not yet on the homescreen
