Home Assistant question (simple one, I think)

Ok, so I actually got Home Assistant up & running and no problems so far. I have pretty much nothing installed on it - I am taking it very VERY slow, since my first attempt was a disaster. But that disaster led me to Homey Pro, and I am absolutely THRILLED with Homey! Homey is still my “main brain” for my smart home, HomeKit is kind of the “public face” I suppose. My wife refuses to use anything else, and I do see her point.

But I do want to make use of HA, but at this point it will take a back seat to Homey. I believe I have everything set up to where I can get HA devices into Homey (still not sure about how to do the other way around…) but I was wondering: If I install devices into Home Assistant, do they automatically go into Homey, or do I get to pick which ones do?

I was thinking of putting my Aqara M3 Hub (and its child devices) into HA. It’s ALREADY attached to HomeKit & Homey - I don’t want to end up creating some weird loop or anything…

You add them manually.

I’m gonna have to build a statue in your honor soon! Thank you! Weird thing was, it WASN’T working - I kept going through the thread and checking the posts in there trying to make sure I was following your instructions. At some point, I tried a change in HA that didn’t seem to work so I was about to try something else, when Alexa (who I DO have hooked up to HA) started spouting off about all the new devices she had just found lol!

Anyway, all is well, thank you again!

I was hoping you might be able to answer yet ANOTHER question for me lol! I have the Aqara M3 hub. It is currently attached to HomeKit. It is also attached to Homey via matter. I would like to also attach it to HA via matter - but will having it attached to 3 eco systems cause issues? Heck, I think it might also be attached through Homey to Alexa lol!

So will adding it to HA as well cause any issues?

Haha. Well I can’t help you with that.
Of course there’s an other way as well: the device can be added to HA from Homey, when you have the MQTT setup in place!

About Matter: I only have Matter available with H.A. (Google Hub as Thread border router). No experience with “multi-Matter” so to speak.
