Google Nest error: The camera is not available for streaming [FAILED_PRECONDITION]

I have a Google Nest Cam Outdoor (battery). When the camera is turned off in the Google Home app, Homey cannot connect to it or turn it back on. The error I get is: “The camera is not available for streaming [FAILED_PRECONDITION].”

Is there any way to control the camera from the Homey app even when the camera is turned off in Google Home? Basically, I want to be able to turn the cameras on and off directly from Homey.

Thanks!

Have you tried to restart the Google Nest app and also restarted your Homey? Also check the device settings once you click on the cog icon upper right corner. Maybe you can repair your connection?

In my case I also have the Nest Doorbell Battery and mine is working as expected, so maybe a simple repair can solve your issue

No luck, maybe the issue is that these cameras run on batteries?

Are you talking about the error? I don’t think so, like I said, I have the exact same doorbell and for me it’s working.

I would suggest to remove the device from Homey, remove the app, and re-install the app and the doorbell in Homey. See if that works?

But, I don’t have the doorbell

Hmm my bad, didn’t read carefully haha

Though I think it functions the same. Have you tried above steps?

Otherwise maybe someone else has the golden answer

Probably not:

 However

there’s a way you can start a Ghome automation by means of a virtual device with device class “Kettle”.

Meaning, if it’s possible turn the cam on per action part of an automation, you can turn it on with Homey.
