If your z-wave network includes GE Enbrighten 700 switches and dimmers (ZWA4011 or ZWA3016), they might be impacting the performance and reliability of your entire Homey Pro installation. The setting properties will show a Manufacturer ID of 99 and Product IDs of 12857 and 13360. If the firmware version is 1.22 and 1.24 respectively, you will want to update the switches to 2.03 and 2.01, respectively. The GE Enbrighten Homey app has not implemented the firmware update function, but there is a way to do it without the hassle of removing the devices from the network. Download the free Simplicity Studio application to a PC from Silicon Labs’ website, connect a USB zwave controller (e.g., Zooz USB stick) to the PC and then pair it to Homey Pro as a secondary controller. After pairing, you will see all of your zwave devices listed in Simplicity Studio, select each device that needs a firmware update, and apply it. It’s fast and easy. You can use Google’s AI to provide detailed step by step instructions.
After applying the firmware updates, I saw immediate performance and stability improvements. The firmware revision will not show in the settings unless you re-pair the switch, but the improvements are not dependent on this step.
Before the firmware update, we would experience sluggish or delayed response to automations, and occassionally, devices going offline to both direct and automated actions, that would require powering off the circuit or pulling the switch disconnect tab, and sometimes the equivalent of “zwave jamming” where the entire zwave mesh would stop responding including a separate Ring Security zwave network.
