Energy dongle not connecting to network

I got an energy dongle for Christmas and now finally have time to install it.

Connected to the p1 port and a USB power supply. The homey pro (early 2023) is connected via ethernet.

The app immediately recognized the dongle and I got to “connect to wifi”. And that’s where it all stopped. The wifi is found and I enter my password (even copied it from my ubiquity software to make absolutely sure there’s no typo) but it keeps coming back to “are you sure the password is correct?”

I’ve gone through multiple resets, but every time it refuses to join the network.

Any great ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks!

Do you have 2.4Ghz enabled on your WiFi system? Does it show up in the DHCP leases?

I’ve got 2,4 enabled, but it does not show up in the ui suite.

Sometimes certain special characters in a pw causes connect refusal issues.
You can temporary change the pw to a real simple one, like abc123, and see if that solves the problem.

Sadly that did not help… created a new wifi network called Homey with password abcd1234 and it still did not want to connect. The response was quicker though.

I know Homey and Homey accessoires like “oldskool” wifi the best.
When you use AP’s and stuff,
make sure the Energy dongle can’t hop between AP’s.

When you still have your previous wifi router somewhere, remove the dust and try to connect the Energy dongle with it.

If that succeeds, you’ll know there’s something incompatible with the dongle and your Ubiquity setup.

That’ll need some digging in the attic, and will have to wait till tomorrow, I’ll keep you posted…

Tried our old Netgear Orbi router, and it has the exact same issue.

I only have letters numbers and a few spaces in my password, so nothing weird.

2.4 network enabled.

Tried disabling 5 and 6, but no luck then either…

I’d omit whitespaces in the pw if I were you.

If that doesn’t change anything either, then I think we can conclude the dongle is a Monday morning model.
I"d report to Athom support, or contact the shop where you purchased it.

Yeah, tried a ssid “test” with pw abcd1234 and even that didn’t work, so I indeed think it’s just a Monday morning model… thanks for the suggestions anyway

No problem
