I have the WS90 since recently, using it with the new Shelly control app - which is official but in very early versions. I have problems that the app stops receiving data once and a while…
So I read in documentation that almost every Shelly device creates a local wifi; “When powered on for the first time, a Shelly device creates its own Wi-Fi network (Access Point).”
Has anyone of you succeeded with this?
“When powered on for the first time” hopefully does not mean I have only one chance to do this! But, just removing the batteries and reinserting them doesn’t seem to trigger any wifi of the IP-adress stated, http://192.168.33.1.
Did you point your phone’s wifi to the SSID (access point) of the Shelly? You’re ought to connect to it directly, then browse to http://192.168.33.1
After configuring, you can point the phone’s wifi to your router again.
And no, when you didn’t change anything, those units always turn on it’s access point after power up.
No you don’t. It’s Bluetooth during setup, with the Shelly mobile app. Bluetooth as a permanent connection needs a gateway, but the Bluetooth setup does not AFAIK. Just install the Shelly mobile app and set it up from there using Bluetooth setup
Is a factory reset different from just the “reset” button? I cannot see any info about how to perform a factory reset. But I agree, it would be nice to try that in order to get the Shelly SSID to show up…
I think otherwise, tried right now again. The WS90 is found but in order to install it in the app properly I cannot go forward in the setup process without a Shelly gateway, pls see attached screen shot (sorry for Swedish only)…
But, on the other hand, zigbee is the preferred way into Homey, once the new Shelly app becomes more reliable.
If you follow the pairing instructions as described in the Shelly Control app it shows exactly how to put it in Zigbee pairing mode without touching the Shelly mobile app, should be in the manual as well
Quickly looked it up; Press the “CAL” button two times to initialize pairing.
My problem is not pairing it with Homey using Zigbee. My problem is that the device stops sending data after 2-4 hours… It does not recover and the only way is to reset and pair it again, and again…
I didn’t look at the TX/RX readings when it was still alive. It is still on a small “test stand”, so right now just about 10-12 meters from Homey. The very first test it was only 5-6 meters away and still stopped sending after just a couple of hours.
(I have other zigbee enddevices in the garden much further away and with more walls in between, and they have 0 problems. So I don’t think it is network strength to be honest.)
It’s weird that it works for some hours and then just dies. No 9s-blinks either from the blue LED.
