Does it make sense to rebuild Zigbee network the correct way?

For now no problems with Zigbee but does it make sense to rebuild my Zigbee network? As newbie I started the wrong way with some end devices (remote control buttons) and a few Ikea lamps that can be physically controlled with a regular wall switch, so it’s a bad router device. All my routers and end devices are also configured close to the Homey Pro and moved them to another location.

Now I understand that I have to configure my routers first and then all my end devices, both at the location of use. But what if I add random Zigbee (end) devices in the future?

If it works fine, I’d leave it as is. But others might disagree on this.
Zigbee is flexible, most devices look for the best route by themselves, but some don’t.

But when you want to add zigbee devices, start with a bunch of router devices according to the recommended way to build your mesh.

But please, never ever power off zigbee lights, as Homey doesn’t detect it, and the zigbee mesh can (temporary) perform worse.

If I were you I’d add some smart switches / wall remotes to switch the Ikea lights, and keep the power connected permanently.

Thanks, didn’t know that but it makes sense of course. In the meantime most of the regular wall switches are locked or replaced by smart switches and added a bunch of router devices as Aeotec range extenders and Ikea smartplugs.

I leave the Zigbee network as it is, it’s working fine.

If it works don’t fix it :innocent:
