My thought was that it could increase or decrease the value of the light with 0.1 each turn, starting at the current value the light was set on. So let’s say the light is at 0, it wold add 0.1 until it got to max.
You could make a variable to store the dim-value for each lamp, and use that as a startingpoint for the dimlevel and adding the value of the dimmer.
And make a flow that if that dim-value variable for a lamp changes, that lamp goes brighter / dimmer?
that’s why i said this in my initial explanation:
The biggest issue with this system, is that your dimming device doesn’t see the current level of the light your trying to control is, so it will always be relative to its own dim level, not to the light’s dim level.
I guess it should have said “to its own absolute dim level”
There might be other smart solutions to try. I just feel that it’s easier for everyone in the home to stick to the remotes/switches that focuses on one light per button-set. Otherwise I might get killed in my sleep. ![]()
The Namron 4 channel switches works fine, besides not being able to dim continiously. But that’s on Athom/Homey, not Namron I guess.
The only device I know with which you can dim (more or less) continuously is the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch. I only use the Gen2 version, but I guess it also works with the Gen3 version.
The reason why it works is that when you press and hold the dim buttons, it keeps sending trigger pulses.
With this device you can also circle through several lamps (with the help of variables).
Each time the On button is pressed again, another lamp is switched on.
The same is possible with the Off button. Or switching off all lamps at the same time.
So it works that way with Homey as well? Are you using the official app or the one without the need for a Hue Hub?
I bought the Hue Tap Dial but that is not yet supported by the “non hub app”. So I’m waiting to see what possibilities shows up when that is available.
It works only with a Homey Pro, because the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch is only supported by the Philips Hue app for Homey Pro and the Philips Hue, without the bridge for Homey Pro.
I’m using the Philips Hue, without the bridge app.
I have a Homey Pro 2019, but the Hue Tap Dial is not yet supported by the “Philips Hue, without the bridge”.
I bought a Hue Bridge to see if that would work. I managed to get the device into Homey but the “dial” did not appear to be available.
Have you connected the Tap Dial to the Hue Bridge first?
Yeah, I tried that initially. But that only gave me the option to use the four buttons, not the dial. So it felt like a bad way to go.
How did it go with the Natron 4-1 dimmer? I’m new to Homey, I trying to get the dimmer to adjust a Led strip, you have any flow you can share?
