There is a nice Homey app to send data from Homey to Awtrix: [APP][Pro] AWTRIX - Connected Smart Clock for your Smart Home
I wanted a two-way link between the Homey Sonos app and Awtrix NG. I eventually achieved this by using a Berry script on my Ulanzi TC002, running Awtrix NG 1.2.2, showing Sonos data and controlling Sonos from Awtrix
Demo with dummy data:

Configurable App parameters:
Capabilities with the Awtrix display:
- Song title and artist of the track currently playing on Sonos
- Album art
- Timed lyrics (no licensing needed)
- Playback progress (time elapsed) and total duration (time and progress bar)
- Adjusting Sonos volume (using the rotary knob)
- Skipping to the next or previous track in a Sonos playlist, or stopping playback
- Parameter settings for buttons and text colors
The Awtrix app launches automatically as soon as Sonos begins playing a playlist.
I did come across solutions that rely on HTTP commands, but those would require Awtrix to poll Homey every single second to check if Sonos is playing something. Instead, I opted for an MQTT-based solution; while the setup is slightly more complex, it places less of a load on Homey.
What you need:
- Homey MQTT setup
- Activated MQTT on Awtrix
- An Advanced Flow that processes messages to and from Awtrix and Sonos
- A Berry script (generated by Claude AI)
If you’re interested, I can share the Advanced Flow and the Berry script (suitable for Awtrix NG on 52x16px display)
