Do you mean the old official Tuya app? Tuya blocked Homey access to the official Tuya API service, so now they use a reverse-engineered one from Home Assistant.
This app is not officially released yet, itâs in testing phase (beta). In beta stage you can of course expect issues.
In the first post, the contact email address can be found for when you have issues with the app. You can report the issue here.
About that old âŚ(I bought it when it was old.)
Good to note: nothing here is reverse-engineered. We are using an open-source repository provided by Tuya, which is also used by the Home Assistant platform ![]()
So you mean the Python-based tuya-device-sharing-sdk? But Homey can only run JS, right? Did you port it to JS?
Exactly, itâs just ported to Node.JS
Look forward to V1.0.2. Fingers Crossed
Sorry for the dummy question, but Iâm a little irritated.. What should regularly happen after scanning the barcode? When i scan it, there is a link, following it Iâm forced to install the Tuya Smart Life app, but this was already installed on my android device beforeâŚ
You should scan it with the Smart Life app (go to the Me tab, click the QR icon in the top right corner).
You shouldnât scan it with your phoneâs default camera/QR scanner app. You should scan it from within the Smart Life app
This sounds like youâre scanning not the right QR code.
There shouldnât be a link mentioned underneath.
Possible bug.
Yesterday i updated my homey to latest firmware(12.10.0) and noticed that the tuya device(i have only one:-)) was unavailable and needed a repair.
Today i received the latest (test) tuya app version (1.0.2) and again the device was unavailable and needs a repair again.
After the. 1.2 update need to repair my devices again @drenso
You made my day. I hadnât thought about that angle.
Many thanks!
Hi there,
Iâm curiousâŚ
Is there any chance that I can import devices from Tuya AND Smart life without transfering them to one of each ?
And btw, thanks for that Xmas present ![]()
Itâs currently not possible to link multiple accounts. But Smart Life and Tuya are interchangeable, so you can just link them all to Smart Life or link them all to Tuya Smart. You can use the âRemove deviceâ button (do NOT click âRemove and wipe dataâ!), and then you should be able to just open the Tuya/Smart Life app (whichever you use) and get all devices from the other app in. Then you just need 1 app/account
When you remove the device, it will get reset automatically. The data (custom name and icon) will be restored when you link it to another app. If you have the newer TuyaMCU-powered devices, you should be able to get them into the other app easily (they will automatically get detected with the Bluetooth setup)
Note: this doesnât work for battery powered devices, as those go to deep sleep to save battery life. For those you need to wake them up (by triggering something on the device so that it will connect to the Tuya server). Then it will receive the reset command and start the pairing procedure.
Hey Sven,
Thanks a lot for that quick respond ![]()
I just tried to âtransferâ some devices from Tuya to Smart life. Unfortunately I did not manage to do so ![]()
Any chance that you can explain it bit more detailed ?
Thanks in advance
Yes. If you want to transfer to Smart Life, you need to go to each device in the Tuya Smart app and click the 3 dots/pencil icon in the top right corner. Then, you need to scroll down to âDisconnectâ. Click Disconnect (do NOT click âDisconnect and wipe dataâ, as this will remove your custom configuration of your device) and do this for all devices. You can then open the Smart Life app, and connect them all there (the Disconnect causes a reset of the devices, meaning that you can connect them to the Smart Life app). Newer devices will be automatically discovered by the Smart Life app, while older model Tuya devices will need to be manually added by selecting the device type in the âAdd Deviceâ screen and selecting your WiFi.
If you have any battery-powered Tuya devices, youâll need to wake them up first (by triggering something on the device that causes it to connect, e.g. triggering a sensor), and upon connecting it will receive the reset command
Make sure all devices that you remove from the Tuya app are online, because then they can receive the reset command from the Tuya server. Once you have connected them all to Smart Life, you can connect Smart Life to Homey.
I disagree on that part, Sven;
AFAIK only Smart Life devices can be added to the Smart Life phone app, not other Tuya / Tuya whitelabel devices.
I always advice to use the Tuya phone app / migrate to the Tuya phone app.
All Tuya whitelabel devices can be added to the Smart Life app, every Tuya-based device works with every Tuya-based app
