Why is there a new app? The original Tuya app (released by Athom but developed by us) stopped working for new users due to Tuya retracting our access to their cloud (see the community topic for more details). This updated app uses a different method to connect with your Tuya devices, which means that if we would have released this as an update for the previous one, the functionality would break for the users that are still happily using that app. This also allows users to test with the new app without breaking their existing flows, so they can safely migrate whenever they like. FAQ Why does Tuya mentions Home Assistant during the pairing procedure? We are using the Home Assistant way of connecting with the Tuya cloud as that method is not blocked, which causes the message you are seeing. You can safely continue with the pairing procedure! Why are you not using local control? We have investigated direct local control and concluded it to be unfeasible due to the sheer amount of Tuya powered devices available on the market, which all use their own API which is not standarised. However, vendors are somewhat forced to map their custom data points to general properties to be able to offer cloud control, which is what we can leverage to create generic drivers with this app. Why is my device not recognised? Tuya has a lot of device types, and even though we would want to we simply cannot support all types. You can request support for your device type using the procedure described above, but make sure to check our request list as well! Why isn’t everything visible for my device? This app uses the generic control that are exposed through the Tuya cloud. Unfortunately, it is not required to create a complete and correct mapping for a device, which means that for some devices support simply isn’t possible. How do I use the “other” category? The “other” category is a great way to control device types that are not officially supported. Check our guide on this subject! What about Zigbee devices? This app does not add native support for Tuya Zigbee devices, you can try the community Zigbee app for that purpose. However, if you have a Tuya Zigbee bridge you might be able to still control it using this app.

Do you have a PC or an (old) phone? On a PC you can use my.homey.app If you can install the Tuya or the Homey app from a tablet or an (old) phone, you can also scan the QR that way.

I did read that GitHub post, and it said “first add the device to homey(to get it’s details)" - but I can’t add it to homey when it’s not supported? I checked tuya in case it was a typo, but those kinds of device details are not present in tuya.

Did you add your Tuya device first to the Smart Life or Tuya app on your Phone? If you have and then when you want to add them to the Tuya app on Homey: The Tuya app on Homey first asks you to enter your User Code, as indicated in the SmartLife/Tuya app on your phone, Followed by a request to scan the QR code. You’ll have to use your SmartLife/Tuya app on your phone to scan the QR code the Tuya app on Homey shows. [IMG_2294.PNG] Next your devices are shown. If the Tuya app on Homey only finds your devices when selecting the Other Devices section, then indeed they are not supported out-of-the-box. However then you can use RAW command to control them (as indicated in the first post). To control the device via buttons you could add a virtual device: [image] [APP] Tuya - Connect any Tuya device with Homey (by Tuya Inc. / Athom) Apps I think the only option for ‘Other devices’ is to create an addition virtual device that contains the controls (like buttons) and capability read-outs/sensors (like temperature, humidity) that you want. The Advanced Virtual Device from the Device Capabilities app allows you to to this. You can use the buttons to trigger a flow that commands your device, and flows that update the sensors in the virtual device. Basically you are building your own device, so it requires some work. Check this foru… Of course, this requires some effort and is is just a work around for out-of-the-box support. The latter you can request based on the details included in the device tiles after adding your devices to the Other Devices section.

Is it possible to add the LSC smart connect Action stuff via this app? I have some 2-3 things i bought back in the day(christmaslights, …) maybe i finally can add them in Homey now!

Yes, it’s possible. When using the official Tuya app for my LSC Glass Panel Heater 2000W on Homey Pro 2023, the tile in Homey only shows the (set) temperature and does not indicate when the heater is actively heating. The community Tuya app shows an orange “heating” state on the tile when the device is actually heating, but the official app never changes the icon or color to reflect this state. I would really like the official app to expose and visualize the heating state in a similar way (for example an orange icon or separate capability), so it is clear when the heater is really heating. Hi, added all my devices perfectly, but the flow options mentioned on the app page (for example alarm on/off with smoke detector or setting humidity level with humidifier) are no options.
