How many Zigbee devices could this connection handle? I currently have about 70 Zigbee devices on Homey and would like to transfer them all to HA and then pair them again via Zigbee2MQTT. Will I introduce other problems, or will this work properly? Thanks!
70 is no issue if you have a good bridge. See first post how to setup a bridge.

Whey did you swich over to zigbee2MQTT and not zigbee on Homey?

After a few years using Homey I started to experiment with Home Assistant. Amongst lots of other stuff, I just liked to try ZHA and Z2M;
Z2M with its gazillion settings is a bit intimidating at first, but the default settings are great to start with.
It’s rock solid, and it has crucial settings like “Timeout”, which marks devices as “not available, do not search and do not try to use the device” → it’s just incomprehensible Homey lacks this kind of settings and checks.

Does anyone use a Thirdreality smart watering kit with Z2M?
It is supported by Z2M, but does it also work with Homey via Z2M?

Looking at the exposed capabilities at least on/off control by Homey should work. Schedules via z2m will likely not work, but I guess you willnuse Homey flows for scheduling.
Yes, the third reality sensors should be supported in Homey as well, I suppose. So if Homey would detect that the plants need water, Homey could give a trigger to the valve to open and water the plants.
Do you think the water alarm would work as well?
If not working out-of-the-box, do you think you could make it work without having the device, @Gruijter?
