For anyone interested, just added successfully “Action” device - LSC Battletron Razer led strip - I can’t DIM the light but I don’t mind, at least I can turn it off/on
@Jurgen_Heine now that the “official” app has failed, would you be willing to work with the folks of Athom to handover app development of this app to them? Perhaps this can be turned into an official app without the hassle for you.
this app is loosely held by a loophole in the tuya dev account. If Tuya ever get tired of we using their platform, they can shut it down. Don’t think is worth the effort to maintain something that can disapear any day.
This one has been working for quite awhile now and I know that thought is given to embracing community apps. That’s why I mentioned it.
Also because Jurgen is not actively maintaining it anymore. Seems like a small step for a good developer (which I am not) to take over development. Especially as the “works with Homey” route is cut off
I mean, you can now. You can use ANY device from tuya using this app with raw commands. I’m not against someone taking the lead on this project either. I’m just being realistic and pointing that few ppl would take the time with a project like this, espeacially with Raw Commands beeing a thing.
Hello beautiful community! I’ve read some of the posts above, and I see there are issues with Tuya.
I’m new to Homey PRO, I have an electric car, photovoltaic panels, and several Tuya devices (dual zone thermostat, smart relays for opening/closing, electric meter, sockets, and an electric resistance for the boiler). Is it still possible to integrate my Tuya devices into Homey PRO, or should I look to replace them all? (much more expensive). Thanks!
Yes. BUT,
This app is not actively maintained, but user contributions are still added by the original developer.
As long as Tuya doesn’t start to block new (iot developer) accounts, it works fine.
They pulled this trick on the ‘official’ Tuya app.
I still use enough Tuya devices, but I’m slowly moving away from Tuya wifi devices, because of:
cloud dependency - this can vanish at any moment, but this is a generic problem with any cloud dependent device.
privacy; I didn’t realize this downside too well, when I started my smart home.
Maybe it’s a good idea to start replacing the most important devices.
And / or:
Add a Home Assistant machine and use that for Tuya, it has an official, Tuya made, integration.
More info here.
On topic:
First you have to determine what protocol your Tuya devices use: wifi or zigbee.
For the zigbee devices, use the Tuya Zigbee app.
This topic is about the Tuya wifi devices.
This Tuya Cloud app is capable of controlling almost any Tuya device, if it’s not directly supported as device, you can use workarounds called tap-to-run scenes or RAW commands (all explained in the first topic post).
Next, not directly supported devices can control Homey (start flows, receive values and such) using the RAW commands workaround.
Just FYI, in the meantime, I added some of the devices I own and waiting for Jurgen if he is interested to transfer ownership of this app. Not sure if this would be accepted (basically the changes I made could break a lot of things and I don’t think it’s good idea someone else to be responsible for my amateur mistakes because as you know, I’m rather amateur then developer), but at least in the meantime I was able to add :
voltage / current measurement for LSC Plugs + add capability for offline/online detection
Tuya feeder - probably not compatible with general feeder class
Parkside battery charger
DIM capability to the lights - at least working on the LSC strip for me I use on my monitor
Basically because I own those devices, so I was able to add it and test it. Probably will be unable to do full maintenance of such huge ecosystem, like Jurgen but as I keep using Homey, could be still better option to smash some bugs.
That’s probably a very good idea because they can shut it down any time - luckily I didn’t have any other options or some of the devices so didn’t have any choice BUT - there is one advantage - thanks to the CLOUD you can actually have those devices anywhere… so could be a use case, even risky one, for use cases where you would enable some kind of automations controlled by Homey without actually Homey being at that particular location. But… I keep saying, local is local.
Nice work! I think if people all do the same thing, this could work. So, we just add our own devices and then do a pull request.
I have a change request as well: could someone please add some more hours in a day?
I don’t expect Tuya to pull the plug anytime soon on this route. Other people might be depending on this as well. And in that way this is different from the “official” app. When that was released it looked like all of a sudden numerous people would start firing dozens of API requests. Can be different…
I tried to reconnect a new project because I had some new devices that didn’t come through. But now after making a project, linking the Tuya app to it and then trying to connect devices in Homey it keeps saying I must configure the app first. But in the Tuya app I have configured all the details from the project. Anyone who sees what I am missing here?
Hello, since last night I’m unable to control my wall plugs. Tried setting up a new Tuya cloud project, when applying the settings to the Tuya Homey app I get:
Error: Missing implementation for api endpoint "connect"
Am I missing something? Well I obviously am, but it doesn’t seem to be something obvious as the authorizations seem ok.
Hello, the trial period had ended, I restarted it for 6 months today (I don’t remember the exact time). I had confirmation that it was OK on the tuya dev site. But I see in the homey feed this message. But the flows work, the scenarios trigger normally. Should I do something? Thank you for your help
