Thanks Robin for your Quick answer. I suggest that you turn off per network then you can track the MAC address for your device.
Yes.
To have your app keep track of Apple, Android and even Windows devices correctly, users should disable MAC address changing when reconnecting to the home wifi.
Here is the manual for Windows:
How to use random hardware addresses in Windows - Microsoft Support.
I did try this app today but unfortunately it didnāt work well.
After one hour or so the app wasnāt updating and only a restart of the did solve this. And then after about one hour it has the same issue.
Is there something I did wrong?
I only added one device, the main Deco, and kept all the setting standard.
There is a bug in an underlying module. I have solved it as Iām working on a new release. I will publish it and we have to wait for Homey to approve
Thank you for your effort and reply. I wil give a try on the next release.
First of all nice work!
Any idea if M5, M4 Deco will be supported in future? Right now I get an empty selection when adding a M5.
Cheers!
If you could open wireshark and browse to your units one by one. You need to click around in the UI. For each device send me the capture. I could then compile a small test program that will fetch the JSONs and I can work from there.
Just found this app, great work !
Some app feedback from my side:
- It would be user friendly to also accept http://192.168.1.81/ instaed only 192.168.1.81
- I always use http://tplinkdeco.net/ to login, I didnāt know I had a local interface as well. Maybe
this can be added to the description as well. - I first added a slave which didnāt gave any info. From the local web interface I could also only update firmware. Not sure what the idea here is, if I should all them all or only the master?
- I have a mixed mesh, 4x X50 + 1x X50 outdoor (all cabled backhaul to the master via switches). When adding the master it didnāt show up after loggin in, after clicking in your app it should up. Not sure if this was a time-out before it appeard or if I clicked it visible. Also the node name was pretty weird (like a codeā¦ not X50).
- Strange. I notice that my master in Homey, reports data, with the IP of my master node, however it claims to be the X50 Outlook with itās MAC of the X50 Outdoor claiming to be a slave.
Going to test some more to see it if was a glitch or if I can reproduce it.
Edit
Confirmed.
- I cannot add my X50 Outdoor slave. Adding other slaves works.
- When adding my Master it take time before it shows up, the funny name is (R2FyYWdl) not sure where it comes from. It again reports with the IP of the X50 main to be the X50 Outdoor, slave and the MAC of the X50 Outdoor. This time it doesnāt reports data.
- when logging in on the webinterface of the X50 outdoor it also only get firmware update possiblity.
- removed everything and added main again. Same behaviour, however not it shows data, unlike my 2nd time.
Thanks. Iām working on a new release, and I will include some or all of your suggestions, maybe in stagesāmore units to be supported. I have contacted TP-Link Sweden to see if I can borrow some units to develop more support.
Maybe a simple question, but where can I find the hostname and the password in the Deco (iOS) app?
Hostname/IP is your gateway ip YouTube Norway have 192.168.1.1 or as me 192.168.68.1. You can use ātplinkdeco.netā. To find it in the app. You click on the device map. Then you will see a list of your devices tap on that. At the top on next screen you have a little button ādevice info>ā.
The password is the same as you login to your tplink account.
My Deco X60 works fine with the app. Thank for your work!
Hope there will be an update soon as I have to reboot the Deco app once a day.
Keep up the good work!
