[APP][Pro] Samsung SmartTV

Tried that and noticed the TV is “switching on” every 25 minutes then about 30 seconds later it switches off again. The switching on doesn’t really happen, but if the TV happens to be on it actually does switch off.

I see nothing has been set to 25 minutes nor 30 seconds. So perhaps it is something in the TV itself

Hi, Try to connect my tv:

I use the Samsung device, it finds my tv, but when I add it, it comes back with:
Dublicate Device Data, and then not adding the tv.

Are you sure the TV has not been added in a room where you are not looking? In other words: if you go from the app, do you see the TV as added?

This issue is fixed. I have a Xiaomi Mi Box S connected to it and I think that was sending an off command through the HDMI. I switched off the box and the TV switched off as well. After that I switched on the TV again and haven’t had this issue since.
I think I will have to look into the CEC power thing on this one.

I have read through the instructions and see that I can send both a key and a list of keys.

Great app @balmli

However, is there any way to change the sound output from optical to tv speaker from Homey? I can not find sound output in the list of commands and keys.

I want to have a flow dimming the light, turning on the home cinema receiver and changing sound output from the standard tv speaker, to optical out

Any advice?

A lot of this app is unfortunately not working and it seems to be not maintained. Your best chance is to send some keys (up, down etc), navigate through the menu and hopefully get what you need that way

thanks. That is what I have considered, but if I always start with Menu, I guess the start point is different each time maybe… will check that option

I want to generate a smasung API token for my TV. The TV is already registered in the Samsung cloud and I see it there. The question is which options should I click on so that I can control my TV via Homey. What I want is that when someone presses the doorbell, a snapshot appears on the TV via the chromecast. That already works. What doesn’t work is to go back to hdmi1 after 3 seconds. To get that working I need an API token but I don’t know what to choose from the list.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction,

Can you first share which Homey app is involved here?
(Often a brand can have multiple apps)

Sorry my mistake hardware is Homey pro 23.
Apps are.
Samsung SmartTV v2.1.0
Ubiquiti UniFi Protect v 1.7.5 (test)

When you get to the page of Samsung ( Samsung account) where you can generate the API token there are many options I don’t know which one to choose to generate the right token.

You’d best read instructions & raise possible questions in the Samsung TV app topic:

Most apps have their own forum topic, as mentioned @ the homey.app store app pages.

And that IS this topic, right?

If I look in my personal manual that I have for all sort of installations in my household (translated):
In order to change the input as well, you need to setup the SmartThings API. You can generate an API token here:
https://account.smartthings.com/tokens

I think I selected all options. The second time I did this was by adding the “Smart Things” app to Homey through the Homey web app on my PC. (I think that triggered the creation of a new API token)

That is linked to this topic, so this is THE topic belonging to the “Samsung Smart TV” app. I agree with you, @Peter_Kawa , there can be multiple apps for the same device, but this is the right app and the right topic

However… After adding a Samsung Smart TV device through that app there is a lot you can control. And however “select input …” with " HDMI1" in the drop down is an option, that doesn’t work.

Read some messages from this one and up.

Curious to learn what doorbell you use and how you got this to work though:

Dear Rudi, I’m old but not retarded (yet)

I understand your thoughts, but the original post was not posted in this app topic at first.
I assume you are familiar with the habit of users just starting new topics for whatever?

When posts were not posted to the appropriate app topic at first, I occasionally flag it with the request to move it to the correct app topic, along with the link to the app topic (after asking the TS what app is involved when unsure)
This was pointed out as the preferred way to by moderators

Then, a moderator decides what to do with it, and often those post(s) (including my responses to that post) , are moved to the appropriate topic.
But it is not visible marked as such here, you only can see it with the original topic, IF it isn’t closed already.

I do this stuff at free will, so I guess I’m a bit of an idiot anyway :sweat_smile::laughing:

Ah, like that! Missed that part. Anyway, let’s see if we can help

Hi,
Same here.
As my home screen doesnt change that often (the order of the apps) and my HDMI connections are at the beginning of the apps, I select my HDMI connections with moving the cursor to the correct app (=HDMI) and select enter. Its not very academic, but I didnt found a better way at the moment, I am glad to learn if there is an easier way.

Eric

No, this sort of stuff seems to be the only way. I use flows like these too to switch to my Xiaomi Mi Box S and then start a slide show. As a matter of fact: on the Mi Box S I am unable to immediately start the correct app, so I am doing something similar.

Only thing I am still figuring out is how to switch on the TV. But it is a The Frame TV, so it basically has two “on” stages.

Hmmm… as it seems what is going wrong is that the “power state polling” parameter is disabled automatically

Hi.

Not sure if @balmli still maintains this app.
But I want to try to start Youtube through a flow.
For some reason I get an error “The application request must be authorized”

The TV ‘device’ has an API key installed with all permissions added.

When I use a completely similar flow to start ‘Netflix’ there is no issue, and the application runs just fine on the TV.

In the YouTube app I need to select the profile. Perhaps that is what it stumbles upon
