[APP][Pro] Peblar EV Charger - Plug in. Power up. Automate

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for your amazing work! I’m especially pleased about the RFID part. Unfortunately I don’t own my EV yet, still waiting for delivery, I already made a extensive Flow in Homey. This is only a small part of it. Currently when I plug-in the cable, it checks when I’m at home. It then uses this flowcard to check the authentication with my RFID:

see below flow. I really hope this is working well. So now my Peblar will only work when the cable is plugged in and when I’m home.

Also when I come back home and my cable is connected and plugged in, than the RFID will be offered at the Peblar to authorize the charging. When there is an error, It will prompt me to use the tag

Although I can’t thoroughly test it completely, once I test the flow just before the RFID section, my light goes to blue indicating charging should be ready so I think it works as expected. Maybe other users can confirm too?

Hi @Kyle_Michiels ,

I tried to charge my rental EV today with my flows I made on my Homey. I had some issues regarding starting the charge. I have a quite extensive flow which should start once the Peblar is indicating the blue light. Than my flows should start, but they didn’t.

Also when I test the flow when charging is stopped, It should trigger, but for some reason the Peblar still thinks it is charging, see below screenshot:

For reference, the cable is not plugged in, but already put away

BTW, the RFID part is working flawlessly! Thank you!

Hi @Borssie,

Thanks for the detailed report and the diagnostic log, and great to hear RFID is working flawlessly!

I found the cause. The app currently decides “charging” based on the configured current limit instead of the actual charger state. That’s why it still shows charging with the cable unplugged, and why Homey’s built-in “Stopped charging” / “Is (not) charging” cards don’t react to plugging in or to charging actually starting or stopping.

A fix is coming in the next test version: the charging status will follow the real charger state (car actually charging), so those cards will work as expected.

In the meantime, for “car connected” you can use the app’s own “Cable plugged in” trigger. Note that in solar mode the car can be connected (blue) while waiting for enough surplus. In that case “Charging started” will only fire once charging actually begins.

I’ll let you know when the new test version is out!

Hi @Kyle_Michiels

Aaaah great! Thank you for letting me know. I will change the trigger in the meantime. Once the next version is out, I will re-test it! Thank you for your help!

Hi @Borssie,

Test version 4.5.1 is out with the fix! The charging status now follows the actual charger/vehicle state instead of the configured current limit. So Homey’s built-in “Started/Stopped charging” and “Is (not) charging” cards, and the app’s own start/stop triggers, now react to charging actually starting and stopping. The pause/resume widget controls were also made more reliable.

Would be great if you could test it with your flows and let me know how it works!

Hi @Kyle_Michiels !

Awesome, thank you for the update. I really wish I could test it out myself now, but I had to bring back my rental EV car yesterday. I’m eagerly waiting for my own EV to be delivered, hopefully the coming weeks.

Hopefully someone else here is able to test out this new test version!

Thank you!

Hi @Borssie,

No problem, thanks for letting me know! Would be great if you could give 4.5.1 a test yourself once your own EV arrives.

In the meantime: is anyone else here willing to try test version 4.5.1? Mainly whether the “Started/Stopped charging” and “Is (not) charging” cards now trigger correctly when you plug in, start and stop charging. Feedback is very welcome!

Hi, I made these test flows

Plugged the charger in the car, started charging, stopped charging and unplugged, result:

Looks all good to me!

Hi @DaneedeKruyff,

Thanks a lot for testing so thoroughly, with test flows for plugging in, starting, stopping and unplugging, plus both conditions. Great to see everything triggers correctly now!

Really appreciate your help again.
