[App][Pro] Homey EMS (HEMS): Smart EMS

The app was updated so I enabled the setting:

And not long after I saw this in the log:

Looking good! So, changed the Test run setting and not long after:

And I saw both inverters drop to 0 (the third inverter was still outputting ~5000W, doesn’t support curtailment unfortunately)

So, it’s working like a charm! Thanks!

Turned off the limit on the solar production and the target_power was restored to maximum, "reason": "release"

Great!

I have just one additional request, can you add a flow card for this setting so we can enable and disable curtailment dynamically from a flow?

Good to hear, flow support is incomming
I am also releasing more widgets (fleet monitoring for both inverters and battery fleets), the inverter on has a toggle for the curtailment also.
I added also widgets that show the brain reasoning a bit, what is the target etc.

But using the predictions and curtailment enabled the EMS will use the state ‘No destination’ to active curtailment automatically, reducing the overproduction. When prodiction suggest solar power goes down it will release it again, or when consumption goes op.

I also have SolarEdge inverters, so unfortunately, I can’t help you with this either.

I’m still exploring the app, and I think I found a bug.

When I looked into a tick I saw this:

The surplusW is at 8800, P1 at -8774.5, so roughly the same, but solar it at 3864 and that surprised me. I took a screenshot of my inverters at the same time:

(The Inverter Growatt 1 and Growatt 2 are there for comparison and testing, please ignore them)
The value from my Goodwe matches the value that’s shown at solar but the actual production should be GoodWe + Growatt L + Growatt R, so 3864+2586+2748=9198 which closely resembles the surplusW and P1.

(Another question is the relation between surplusW and P1 as I would have expected the surplus to be actually lower than the actual feed-in.)

Thanks!

Can you give me a screenshot of your EMS device list from the config?
Or from the inverter fleet widget, are all 3 present?

Yes, they’re there:

Nice new widget btw!

This is the tick:

I’ve just now changed the order in the devices, it looks like it only counts the first inverter in the list:

weird, cant find why it would work differently, the widget and the ticks use the same source.
Can you send a diagnostic report? without restarting the app.
And restart the app then, wait for 1 minute and send a new diagnostic report

test version now has a net zero strategy device, have fun testing that one

Before reboot: 7922869b-04cc-4a12-aaa2-860aad13f595
After reboot: 61786e7a-1c9b-49d8-b3d8-093bde848f0d

Thanks!

should be solved now, thanks. was a deeper complex issue to find

Thanks, looks good now!

let me check what you did for growatt., got 2 solaredge inverters master/follower , 1 meter and 2 batteries.

Just pushed a new version towards the publish.
This version now support the expensive hour analysis based on the PowerByTheHour app. You can configure it in the repair wizard. The expensive hour button is now an override of that mapping, so if left empty the button remains operational as it did before.
There is also a new cap that indicates if the EMS considers this an expensive hour

Hi Vincent,

I found some time to play around with the app some more and found after adding the Net Zero device next to the Grid Aware device it’s not really easy to distinguish between them in the ticks log as a tick does not show its source. No problem when you have just one strategy configured, but I can imagine having multiple and dynamically switching between them.

Would it be possible to add either the strategy or the device name to a tick line?

And another thing I observed, this tick shows a surplusW value in the details, but on the tick line itself it shows a - (minus sign), I would have expected to see the value 321 there instead, is that to be expected?

Thanks!

Thanks, its fixed in the new test release

See new test version, some minor tweaks on the grid_aware strategy and logging.
Additional features: Discharge battery into car (for those, damn y battery is full and I am about to leave with the car, lets make some space, moments)

New strategy: Peak shaving, now for our BE friends but I am sure others will like it also.

Great, I see the name now, thanks!

About the Surplus, I may be assuming this wrong, but in the Surplus column I still see a - while the line shows a surplus of 1234W, is this correct?

Btw, the Discharge battery into car flow card is a great addition!

I see I broke the tick screens  ill fix that with the EV update on the peak shaving strategy

new test version fixes the tick screen again

Thanks, it now shows a value albeit overlapped by the label in the Mode column:
