Bringing Homey closer to dimmer and re-adding 10 times made it work again.
Hi,
I have multiple Heatit Z-dim2 installed. Did some configuring on one of them, and it seem to be stuck between added and not added. I removed it from devices, but I could not see a confirmation that it was removed. However, the device was removed from the overview. When trying to add it back to Homey, it does not respond to the “push reset button three times” command. No light in the status light of the dimer, whatsoever. I found an “uknown” node (number 8) in the Z wave settings in developer.homey, and managed to remove it. But now number 8 is nowhere to be found, it skips from 7 to 9.
Anyone know what to do do get this included again? I have turned on and off the fuse to reset it that way, but that did not do the trick.
This is a normal behavior within the Z-Wave overview. If a device has been removed, the NodeID is (usually) not used a second time. With the Homey Pro (early 2016-2019) it was always the case, with the Homey Pro (early 2023) I noticed myself that an “old” NodeID was reused. However, it may also have something to do with the fact that I migrated the Z-Wave devices from HP19 to HP23.
If you run into problems with inclusion again, restart the device app. If this doesn’t help, restart Homey. And if that doesn’t help either, do a PTP.
Please always wait a certain amount of time between the inclusion of new devices and the above steps before continuing.
The physical function of the dimmer has nothing to do with the Z-Wave problems. Of course, it could have been that the dimmer is generally broken.
I have two problems with my 7 * Z-Temp2 thermostats connected to 2 * Z-water (11 actuators).
Using Homey 2023 Pro (10.2.1) and these devices are the only Z-wave units in my house.
Problem 1:
Z-temp2 devices suddenly deactivates themselves. Sometimes everything works just fine for 3 weeks and then it happens with one or more devices. Yesterday 3(!) devices was deactivated the same time, please have a look at these three screenshots from Homey (look at the “Thermostat mode ‘Off’ activated”). No one was home at that time and everything else in my Homey system worked just fine, nothing else going on.
Any idea what’s going on? Could it be related to bad z-wave reception and the devices just deactivates themselves? From the last screenshot you can see that some devices are reported as “unreachable” even though they seems to work just fine (I restarted my Homey an hour ago, thats why Tx/Rx values are so low).
Problem 2:
Z-temp2 devices suddenly activates Inverted Mode all by itself!
Since this parameter is not reported to Homey I cannot show a screenshot, but it happens from time to time (maybe 0-2 times a month) that one device just suddenly changes mode. If I press and hold the square button it says “COO”. I can change it back to “HEA” again and it works just fine for a while.
Problem 1
This isn’t something I can remember having seen before.
There is no reason for the device itself to deactivate, it has to be either done from a Z-Wave command, or a local input.
Has it been doing this for long?
Problem 2
Are you 100% certain there aren’t any flows which do this?
This is the same as in problem 1, it can only be done from a Z-Wave command or from the local change.
It could also be an issue in the SDK, we have an update FW for the Z-Temp2, but you can’t OTA in Homey.
I’ve only had these since October and both issues has happened from time to time since then. And this time when it happened to three devices at the same time I know that the house was empty.
As I mentioned, these devices are the only z-wave devices I have, the rest is Zigbee. I have no flows connected to any of the Heatit-products, only lights and sockets. I have double checked by going through all flows. And even if it had been triggered by a flow the Homey history would have mentioned the flow, now it says “Heatit Controls”. The Z-Temp2 and the Z-water/actuators uses associations that works well. Could it be the z-water sending these commands? Just guessing here…
About the problem 2: Is the Inverted mode even exposed as a parameter in the app? I cannot find it?
I have ordered a Z-wave USB dongle. How can I get the new FW?
The Z-Water doesn’t have the capacity to send messages which would change modes.
Changing a Thermostat mode would require either a Thermostat Mode Set, or a Basic Set.
Maybe we can try the update and see if the issue persists after that, you can get the OTA file from us by contacting us by email: post@heatit.com
I have no other flows or anything else connected to the Heatit products at all, so if the Z-Water does not send these commands the Z-Temp2 is changing the mode all by itself.
I upgraded all the devices 5 days ago, so I’ll keep you updated. One thing that I noticed immediately was that the Z-Temp2 devices after the upgrade was able to utilize my two Aotec Range Extender 7’s. Before the upgrade the Z-Temp2 got unresponsive when using the Range Extenders…
Is TAC11-1_B0_2V0_01_EU_OTA.GBL the latest firmware btw?
The update is live now, unfortunately, to get the extra sensors to show, you’ll need to reinclude the thermostats.
Same goes for adding the temp sensors for Z-Water2, also needs a reinclusion.
Sounds like a communication issue between the Homey and the thermostat, could you try to reinclude the thermostat and maybe move the Homey closer during the inclusion?
