I’m inviting testers to try Frameo 0.13.1 for Homey Pro. You can send a photo to a Frameo frame from a Flow, share it with a group of frames, or add a photo widget to a Homey dashboard. The integration runs on Homey Pro itself. Pairing and relay connections use Frameo’s infrastructure.
Tested on Homey Pro (2023) with a Pexar Frameo frame. The beta requires Homey software 12.9.0 or later. Feedback from people with other Frameo models is especially welcome.
Beta installation
This is an independent community integration. The app is on the Test channel and has not yet been reviewed by Homey.
Getting started
- Install the beta, then choose Add device → Frameo in Homey.
- On the frame, choose Add friend. Enter the friend code in Homey or scan the QR code on your phone. You can complete pairing with just the code.
- Choose Send photos, View and display photos or Send and manage photos. For the gallery and widgets, open Settings → My friends on the frame, select the exact sender name you chose in Homey and allow photo viewing. For hiding, showing or deleting photos, also allow photo management.
- Open the app’s Send tab to try a photo, or add the frame to a Flow. If you enabled viewing, try the Gallery tab or add a Frameo photo widget from your dashboard’s catalogue.
What to try
- Send a photo. Use a URL or a Homey image tag in a Flow, or choose JPEG or PNG files in the Send tab. Each Flow action sends one photo to a frame or a group. Each local file can be up to 8 MiB. Keep the Send page open while files are being uploaded.
- Check delivery. Activity shows the result for each photo and destination. If a Flow says sending is still in progress, check Activity before sending again.
- Browse and manage photos. Filter and sort the gallery, open photo previews and change which photos are included in the slideshow. Management requires the matching grant on the frame. To delete a photo permanently, open its preview and confirm the deletion.
- Add a dashboard widget. Choose Compact, Square or Large portrait. Change photo picks a random preview from the frame’s slideshow. Automatic changes are optional.
- Check your frame’s media counts. The device shows photo and video counts, total media, slideshow visibility and the latest reception date reported for media still on the frame. Inventory checks use metadata only. They run every 30 minutes by default, and you can change the interval or turn them off in the frame’s advanced settings in Homey.
- Try the new media Flow trigger. A successful check can detect media IDs added since the previous check. The first check establishes the baseline. Subsequent detections include the ID, media type and the reception date reported by the frame when available.
The app is available in English, French, Dutch and German. It is built on the GPL-licensed unframeo engine.
