Hi Peter,
I have the Danfoss Icon2 and needed to get the Ally for Smart Home usage.
However, as I see it you cannot add the Icon2 units to the Homey Pro yet.
I hope it will be available in the future.

Hei Setholm,
Thank you.
Best regards

Hi Petter,
There’s still no Homey app that allows you to include the Danfoss Icon (neither the 1st gen, nor the 2nd gen), and it doesn’t matter whether you have the Ally Gateway or not. Several people have tried to make an app, but they just didn’t have the time to finish it or they gave up for (understandable) reasons.
Supposedly, there is a possibility though, but it requires additional hardware and I haven’t tested it myself. This solution works through a Home Assistant or Deconz hub.
However, since you don’t own a Homey yet, you may consider a Smart home that’s based on only Home Assistant. With its huge open source community, it’s being developed fast and you can find a lot of great information and ideas online (forums and YouTube).
Best regards,
Christiaan
This is excatly what I’ve done and the reason I set up an Home Assistant. But I only use HA to gain control of, in this example, Danfoss Icon2. I then add them to Homey and control them from there. Homey is much easier and intuative to use, so Homey is still my main smart home hub.
HA has come in handy in other instances afterwards, for devices thats not supported for Homey.
But for you @Petter_Gulbrandsen, that would mean you have to invest and setup both Homey and HA. That of course may be more than you bargained for.
Hello,
I also have a Danfoss Ally Icon2 controller for my floorheating.
Tried to connect to it from my HomeyPro, but it asked for a Tahoma Somfy account.
Requested this account on Somfy website, but the link in their email message didn’t work (dead end).
Is there any update by now how to connect Homey to the Danfoss Ally Icon2 controller?
Login account for Tahoma Somfy does work by now, but I still get this message when trying to connect to Danfoss Thermostat device from Homey (web version).
Any ideas why this message appears, and moreover: how to fix this??
would be great if the icon2 can used to control TVR’s the design is very nice so i want also one…
Great news. Danfoss Icon2 is now included in the latest test version of the Danfoss app. I’ve tested it and so far it’s looking good.
unfortunately no support for the icon 1 through the Ally Gateway yet… ![]()
Hmm. I might give the Danfoss app a try, but at least earlier this year the official Danfoss app was pretty rubbish. It lost Zigbee connection with Ally thermostats randomly every few weeks. So I have my doubts. Has anyone got this working with Icon2?
I successfully configured the system for a short period. When I attempted to remove the unused thermostats (it added 15 thermostats but I only have five connected), it removed all devices attached to the Icon2 and the Icon2 from Homey.
I am now unable to activate learning mode, likely because the Icon2 is under the impression it is already connected. My next step is to reset the controller which will require a full reconfiguration of all actuators and thermostats.
I must admit, adding the Icon2 to Homey isn’t exactly the easiest process.
I’m with you on this. If anything fails, yes, you have to reset your main controller and do the whole setup again. And boy have I done this many times and I have 11 thermostats.
Currently, I wouldn’t advice anyone with Icon2 in trying to have Homey control their heat. Yeah in fact, right now it is not possible at all due to Icon2 Main Controller ends up as an “Unknow zigbee device” when pairing. With the help of chat GPT, I found out this is caused due to a new fw update to the Icon2 Main controller and a new Zigbee fingerprint that is not recognized. As I understand, this should be a quick fix and I’ve written to Homey support but got a standard reply that they forwarded it to their support team. Have heard nothing since then.
So now I’m back at using HA and getting them to Homey that way. Still not perfect at all. In Homey, apparantly it’s considered heating based on temperature, meaning if the temperatur is above set temp., no heating. If it’s lower, it’s heating… or at least Homey think it’s heating. That is not the case though, there are some delay and the main controller is heating in an “intelligent” way so that is not always the case. If Homey instead looked at the vavle opening status, this would be much more precise. The info is there, Homey is just not using it for anything.
Yes, been there several times. Even though it says you can remove the unused devices after pairing, it is not true, you will loose all.
Unable to active learning mode on the Icon2, well yes, that is true as well. That is however a Danfoss issue. It’s hopeless that you can’t reset the zigbee without resetting the whole setup. But again, this is 100% on Danfoss and has nothing to do with Homey.
I’m interrested in knowing if you can pair your Icon2 with Homey again? From my understanding, Danfoss has changed the zigbee fingerprint into something that is now unknown for Homey.
