[APP][Pro&Cloud][Official] Fox ESS - NEW RELEASED APP

Life by Sunshine

Test release: Fox ESS | Homey

Connect your Fox ESS devices to Homey through FoxCloud. FoxCloud updates every five minutes.

Supported devices:

- Solar inverter: solar power and yield, inverter output, backup (EPS) power, status and active faults. You can set the export limit to the grid.

- Battery: state of charge and health, power, charged and discharged energy, temperature and cycles. Homey can charge and discharge the battery at a set power, and you can set the work mode and SoC limits.

- Grid meter: power per phase, imported and exported energy, voltage, frequency and home consumption.

- Heat pump (beta): operating mode and hot water settings, read-only for now.

Requirements: your installation must be in a FoxCloud account. Create an API key here, and enter it when you add a device.

:warning: Other energy managers: FoxCloud, your installer, an energy provider (VPP) or another app can take control of the battery and the export limit back from Homey. Homey then shows ‘Control overridden’ and leaves control to them until you change a setting again. To control the battery from Homey, make sure nothing else controls it (ask your installer or energy provider).

Note that besides FoxESS themselves, the following brands might also use the FoxESS cloud platform:

  • Solarwatt
  • 1KOMMA5
  • Energizer
  • SmartFlex
  • Kuara
  • Sonnenkraft
  • Solavita
  • a-TroniX
  • Enpal

:hugs:

reserved for future use

First test release is available now:

Note that this is a test version, so expect bugs and breaking changes in the first release.

:warning: Other Energy Managers: if one is installed or used, it can take control of the battery and the power limits back from Homey. Homey then shows ‘Control overridden’ and leaves control to the other manager until you change a setting again. To control the battery from Homey, make sure the other manager does not control it (ask your installer).

Please send me a direct message, or if you are willing to temporarily share your FoxEss cloud credentials for testing purposes.

IF YOU HAVE A FOX ESS HEATPUMP, PLEASE HELP TO SUPPORT THIS DEVICE BETTER IN HOMEY!

Version 1.1.0 is ready for testing:

  • Added external energy manager warning
  • Updated readme and links
  • Fixed FoxCloud schedule and Homey control modes

When all is good, this version will be released as stable in the Homey app store.

The heatpump still needs work though. I need a test account with a Fox ESS heatpump installed. Please give me a DM if you have one!

Version 1.1.1 will be released as stable soon:

  • Removed battery alarm. Battery faults are now reported by the problem alarm
  • Migration improvements

Looking forward to this - thanks!

The app has been approved by Athom as first stable release:

Note: heatpump has not been tested yet. If you own a heatpump from FoxESS, or any of the white label brands, please let me know!

Hi Robin,

Please use English in this forum

Go back to v1 interface and add it there.

Sorry using dutch.
But I can’t find the API key in the foxcloud2.0 app at all.
There is also no update available in the appstore.
Also when I go to the webversion I can’t find the API key to be use?
Any idea where to find it?

They seemed to have moved it to: FoxCloud OpenPlatform

Thanks Robin.
I found https://foxesscommunity.com/viewtopic.php?t=3583 as well and I have now activated it.
In the next days I will check all.

SOLUTION:
I had to wait just some more minutes after Installation. Now (about 15 Minutes later it (the addition of Fox-Devices) works fine.

So there are no more problems (so far)..

I just installed the Fox App and tried to add my FOX ESS Battery. The API Code seems to be accepted (Battery ID has been found and shown) but the Device is not added to my homey Dashbord. (Screen freezes when i push “Fortfahren”-Button)

Question: may the reason be, that actually, I connect my Fox-Devices to Homeassistant? Could it be that it dosn’t work when Homeassistant ist connected to that API?

Thanks for Hints.

Thomas

Hello,

Is a modbus version being considered?

Thank you

@Thomas_Abel I will have a look at it. Can you send an app diagnostics report after restarting the app and trying to pair your battery?

Yes. Modbus will be added soon

Thank you in advance

New version 1.1.2 is ready for testing:
