You are welcome, I will release it for the public tomorrow so nothing unexpected will happen. So switch over to the official sharp version sometime tomorrow ![]()
Great effort here @Windy - really appreciate the possibility to get the Arlo devices into Homey - pretty much the last piece of the smart home puzzle here!
I just miss one little thing - in the conditions to execute, if you could add location mode? As in “WHEN , AND mode is/isn’t THEN ” - if that’s possible - and if so, I guess it could also be a trigger - location mode changed?
Thanks! That makes perfect sense, and it fits nicely with the location mode support already in the app.
A new Arlo Connect version is currently waiting for Homey approval. Once that version has been approved and released, I’ll include this in the following update:
- a condition for checking whether the Arlo location is in Standby / Arm Home / Arm Away
- a trigger for when the location mode changes
Great suggestion — thanks for the feedback!
Mikael
@Windy Thanks for the updates. The app has become a lot more stable after recent updates. Im currently on 1.0.35 and have not needed to restart the app since this update.
Thanks, that’s great to hear!
I’m glad 1.0.35 has been much more stable for you and that you haven’t needed to restart the app.
I’m continuing to monitor the diagnostics and have already prepared one small additional stability fix for the next test version.
Thanks again for testing and reporting back — it really helps.
Hi, today the app was not working again. Camera stream and trying to access the app settings times out. Report: 8e0c6d2d-e5fb-4994-b296-2f61cca5ed13
Restarting the app after sending the report fixes the issue.
Hi!
Thanks for your feedback! Press diagnostics in the app. This way I get the log and will see what happened and will try to solve it.
Thanks!

The app stopped working again yesterday. I have left it over night to see if it could recover itself. Its still not working. I have not restarted it yet, but I guess that will get it working again.
Diagnostics report:

Thanks — I saw the diagnostics report and replied to it directly as well.
It showed the app getting stuck on repeated expired-token/session failures instead of fully recovering. I’ve already changed the recovery logic for the next test version so those failures can trigger a full session rebuild automatically.
Until that version is available, restarting the app should get it working again.

Hi, I’ve sent you an email regarding issues getting the siren to work on the Ultra models, as well as the siren and live stream on the Essentials 2K Indoor, so is that something you can fix?
It’s really great that you created this app, as a lot of people have been asking for it.
Hi Johnny,
Thank you — and thanks for the kind words!
Yes, I definitely want to investigate this. I’ve added the Ultra siren issue and the Essential 2K Indoor siren/live-stream issues to my compatibility list.
Could you please send me the exact Arlo model names/model IDs you have, and preferably a Homey diagnostics report after trying the siren and live stream? That will help me see whether these models use different Arlo capabilities/API paths than the currently supported cameras.
I’m currently finishing an authentication-related Test release, so I’ll keep these model-specific fixes separate rather than mixing them into that build.
Thanks again for testing Arlo Connect!
Best regards,
Mikael
Hi Johnny,
Thank you — this is very useful! I can see Arlo Pro, Ultra, Pro 3 and Pro 2 among your cameras.
The current Arlo Connect pairing code is deliberately model-independent, so it does not require a specific camera model to be whitelisted. Your setup will therefore be particularly useful for compatibility testing across several generations of Arlo hardware.
When the next Test version is ready, I would really appreciate it if you could pair/test the different camera types and send me a diagnostics report afterwards. That will also let me see the exact model identifiers reported by the Arlo API.
If possible, I would also be interested in the product/model information for your three hubs.
Thanks again for helping test Arlo Connect!
Mikael
Hi,
Thank you! This is very helpful. I now have the exact indoor camera model as well: Essential 2K Indoor Wired Security Camera, hardware VMC3060Aer1.4.
I’ve noted the Live Video issue and will include this model in the next compatibility update. I’ll also review the information you sent earlier about your three hubs.
Thanks again for helping me test all of this!
Best regards,
Mikael
Hi Mikael. I see that you’ve released a new update for Arlo Connect, but there’s nothing regarding other cameras or hubs without a siren. Do you have any idea when you’ll be implementing that?
Regards Johnny
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for following up.
I haven’t forgotten about support for the other cameras and hubs without a siren. The last releases have mainly focused on fixing the Arlo authentication/session issues, as those were causing existing installations to lose their connection.
I’ve also checked the current pairing code: Arlo Connect does not actually require a base station to have a siren, and there is no fixed camera model whitelist. The app currently exposes the cameras and base stations that the underlying Arlo library identifies as cameras/base stations.
So for the models that are still missing, I need to look at how Arlo reports those particular devices and add support accordingly.
If you can send me the exact model numbers of the cameras and hub you are missing — and preferably a diagnostics report from Arlo Connect — that would be very helpful. Then I can use your setup as a test case for the next compatibility work.
Regards,
Mikael
Hi again Mikael.
The challenge with the Ultra and Indoor Essential models is that they both have a built-in siren that cannot be triggered with the current settings. At the same time, the Indoor Essential cameras cannot stream live video because a white shutter covers the lens when the system is disarmed.
Regards Johnny
Hi Johnny,
Thanks — that clarification helps a lot.
I understand the issue better now. There are really two separate things that need to be handled:
-
Ultra and Indoor Essential cameras have their own built-in siren, so siren control should not be limited to Arlo base stations. I will look at exposing the camera siren as well when the camera reports that capability.
-
For Indoor Essential cameras, the privacy shutter is important. Arlo Connect already receives the camera’s privacy state, but Live View currently tries to start the stream directly. I need to handle the privacy/shutter state properly before starting Live View so that the closed shutter does not prevent streaming when the system is disarmed.
That is much more useful than simply adding another camera model to the supported list, because it tells me which actual capabilities are missing.
I’ll work on these as the next compatibility improvements. If you are willing to test them once I have a Test build ready, that would be very helpful.
Regards,
Mikael
