App is not working anymore for me. Tried to reconnect but got stuck
Hi, I like this app what I can see. What i see the Echo Dot 5 is not supported for now, but I also read the last beta update there was a possibility to add the Echo Dot 5. Will this Echo Dot 5 be supported in the future?
Not sure, amazon have their September event later in the month I don’t have any plans to move to their monthly subscription model for their LLM but if new hardware it triggers a cheap dot 5s I may grab one. (though the standard echo is still running gen4, so I suspect it will be that).
Before anyone asks I am aware that there is also the new Athom Dashboards as to whether or not Ill add a dashboard widget for this app … Not sure, not really doing homey development at the moment …
Do you mean that Amazon is moving to a monthly subscription service for this kind of app support for you?
Amazon are moving to a monthly subscription (I’m guessing) for the AI based echo devices.
Turn off all the lights upstairs except the bathroom, make that red.
Okay, but thats for the new echo devices and not for the devices right now i hope. I will wait abit before i buy a echo dot 4 (5 if its supported) afther the event.
Update: Bought the Echo Dot 4, nice app for the Homey Pro!
I can select the Dutch voice with this card. This has solved the problem. The card that uses the default voice is still not working.
Hi, the first echo dot 4 was easy to install. Now i received my second echo dot 4 but homey pro cant find him. How do i fix this?
Update: Fix this not the best way but I deleted the app on my homey pro and installed it
Try reset ECO
Hi Jamie, thanks a lot for your good job. Any news for echo hub 8 and echo pop integration ?
Hi Jamie, thank you so much for all the hard work you have put in this app.
I am having an issue where if my internet drops down the alexa app you have created and the homey app disconnect and in order to make the devices in my house work again is to log in into my alexa account under the repair maintenance page. Is there a way for the alexa app to stay connected/linked to the homey without having to reconnect manually every time?
Thank you
Hi Jamie, great job with all the integrations and a big Thank You ! Looking forward to be adding my Echo Pop and Dot (5th Generation) to the Homey soon.
Hi Jamie, I have had the Echo Dot 5 and Echo Hub on my Homey Pro for a long time with the trial version as experimental devices. But now I had to reset my Homey Pro and the new active version 5.4.5 has no option for experimental devices, so now I am unable to use my Alexa devices.
Is there a chance to get back the support for these devices?
Hi Jamie,
Thanks a lot for your works. Can you tell me if it’s possible to integrate echo spot 2024, echo hub and echo pop I don’t show them in your list? Thank you for your answer.
Hello Jamie,
in a previous version, with the experimental integration, I had integrated the Freebox Delta Devialet into homey but it no longer works since the latest updates.
can you please put this function back in order to use the devices. Thank you very much.
H Jamie,
I would also love to see the Echo Dot 5 being integrated. - Any chance this could be done soon?
Hey @Jamie like many others I‘ve been waiting for the Dot 5 to be added. It‘s now been a year. I would totally be willing to do it myself. Any chance you could open-source your code? Especially if you‘re not that active anymore with updates etc this would be a great way to hand over the maintenance to the community. Or if for whatever reason you don‘t want your code to be public (because you feel like it‘s too messy or whatever the reason) you could at least give me access to it? I know a lot of people say these things without any development experience and drastically underestimate the effort, but I‘m a developer by trade, so this is not an empty promise.
@LimpRush there are instructions on what you need to do to add a new device to the app…
It’s not even very difficult ….
And if the vector images are the hold back.
Homey designers offer to create them on request: GitHub - athombv/homey-vectors-public: Developers can request vector icons for an Homey App here
Give them some time and they make awesome icons.
Are you talking about this?
Can I add a new alexa device?
Yes I can add new devices, but I will require first the assets and device information in order to add it.
- SVG of the new device in the same aesthetic as the other icons I have.
- An image of the device ideally 2000x2000px in the same aesthetic as the other images I have (white background etc).
- The name of the device, and its average power usage.
- The unique identifier of the device, I can normally find these out with some help and a diagnostic report.
- Someone to test each and every feature of the app upon new device and report back if any features do not work.
Well like I said I’m willing to help out, but not sure what I can just do on my own here. The Dot 5 looks pretty much identical to the Dot 4 in terms of looks, so from an icon and image perspective the Dot 4 assets could be reused, unless you want to differentiate them somehow - not sure how though.
For the name of the device and the unique identifier I’ll need some more info from you how to retrieve these.
Average power usage for me has been 4,4 W over the last months with a mixed usage of music streaming and also shutting it off during vacations.
And for testing I’m also available. But like I said, I’m not sure how exactly I can help you out here without some more context about the device identifier and what else is missing.
