Matter-over-Thread devices are natively supported on both Homey Pro (Early 2023) and Homey Pro mini. These devices don’t require a dedicated app to be added. The available features depend on what the lock itself supports via Matter.
I know there are plans to add it to the Kwikset app for Homey as well, but this will only include a custom icon and pairing instructions. The functionality itself will remain the same
Update: I received the Kwikset Halo Select Model 9800 with the Matter over Thread capability. Connecting via Matter was easy. However, the functionality using Matter is so limited that it makes the lock next to useless for a smart home. The ONLY capability using Matter is remote lock/unlock. The user cannot setup and control access codes. The lock keypad does nothing. You cannot grant access (via access code) to the kids or service people. It does appears the Apple Home Kit Matter interface does enable access code support. So, I would not recommend this lock at this time with Homey and I would recommend that Kwikset at least provides the capabilities that are offered in the Apple Home Kit implementation when they update the official Homey Kwikset app.
I bought the Kwikset Homeconnect 918 and unfortunately find out that its one of the only one that isnt supported natively by the app. Hopefully it gets intergrated in the future
I recently installed a new Kwikset 620 z-wave lock. I already have three of the same lock model installed on other doors. For some reason this lock is not being recognized as a Kwikset lock and Homey is installing a generic app/driver - not even a lock app. I don’t know why this particular 620 lock is not being identified correctly. My assumption is that the info that identifies the lock to Homey is different than previous versions of the same model. I sent in a request to the Kwikset support email but not sure how responsive they are. I was wondering if there is a way to force Homey to install the correct app. TIA.
Thanks for the quick response. Guess I’ll have to hope the Kwikset team responds or does an update. I can see the other locks have a different product id. The concern is the. generic app installed isn’t for a lock and doesn’t let me lock/unlock from Homey.
The app topic isn’t really active either, but i think Howard already did much troubleshooting by finding a different id for the same lock.
Last app update was 2 months ago, that’s hopeful for a (relative) quick update.
Thanks everyone for the input. I did send an email to the support id listed on the app page. It caught me by surprise that it isn’t recognized as they specifically list the 620 in the app as a device to install.
It could simply be that the specific model you have has an ID that isn’t recognized by the app, usually its as simple as the developer adding that identifier.
