This topic is for support, questions and feedback for SoundTouch Bridge, a free Homey app for Bose SoundTouch speakers.
Why this app exists
After Bose ended SoundTouch cloud support, many SoundTouch speakers still worked as speakers, but the internet radio preset workflow stopped working. For a lot of users, that was the useful part: press preset 1-6 on the speaker and immediately hear a favourite station.
SoundTouch Bridge restores that workflow for Homey users. Homey runs locally on your network, listens for physical preset button presses from the speaker, and starts the configured internet radio stream again.
It is not a replacement for the original Bose cloud platform. It is a focused local bridge to make SoundTouch presets useful again.
What it supports
- Pair one or more Bose SoundTouch speakers on the local network
- Configure six preset slots per speaker
- Use fixed radio streams or random radio presets
- Start presets from the physical buttons on the speaker
- Start presets from Homey controls and Flows
- Sync preset names to the speaker display
- Use diagnostics for WebSocket, UPnP, now-playing and playback issues
Version 1.0 adds random radio presets by genre/tag, improved reconnect handling after speaker or network changes, and clearer playback diagnostics.
Requirements
- A local Homey setup on the same network as the speaker, such as Homey Pro or Homey Self-Hosted Server
- One or more Bose SoundTouch speakers on the same local network
- Direct HTTP MP3/AAC radio streams, or stations found through the app search/random preset feature
The app is not for Homey Cloud-only setups, because it needs local network access to the SoundTouch speaker.
Known limitations
- This app is unofficial and is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by Bose.
- It does not restore the original Bose cloud features.
- HTTPS streams, HLS streams, playlist URLs and web-player URLs are not supported reliably.
- Stereo sync and SoundTouch stereo pairing are not supported at the moment.
