Homey Bose app useless?

Recently Bose stopped cloud services for their SoundTouch app making it impossible to add music providers and using presets through the Homey Bose app. My Homey flows are still working but the Bose devices remain silent because the most important functions do not work anymore.

My question is if anyone is working on possible solutions? If not, should the Homey Bose app not be removed from the apps library?

Assuming you are using this app, it’s best to use the forum topic for that app. The developer might not read all topics on this forum and in that topic other users of the app can read whats going on.

Well, I did notice the most thanks to the quite offensive title.
So to sum things up quickly.

  • I decided to keep the apps functionality as it is
  • Everything still works nicely except for those features requiring the Bose cloud
  • No I am not in any kind related to Bose and I am maintaining the app out of free will and passion my very little spare time

About the presets in specific. There are open source projects already out there to replace that functionality. They build right on top of the original functionality, hence why I keep it as it is.

However, you might need to jailbreak your bose device and run the replacement cloud server on your own premises. At this point I am not planning to build this into the app itself myself.

Thank you for your reply and no offense was meant by me. I am just a simple user who can do some things with flows in Homey making use of their apps. Totally surprised recently when my wake up ST20 in my bedroom remained silent. After reading the Bose verdict message I felt being thrown into a desert. Thank God my Soundbar 300 is still working wit the TV set, but no music. Even not with remote control. Only way out was Bluetooth but that is a stupid solution for my Bose hardware. All my hopes were directed on the genious people working in the Homey community on smart solutions and every day I checked if the Homey Bose app was renewed giving my Bose equipment new life. But nothing happened and in desparation I placed this question in this forum. In the wrong place apparently.

In the mean time I Googled a bit further and noticed a number of options and solutions. Believe me that reading all this stuff gives me a hard time. But I think that I will be able to make the best choice to bring my Bose devices back to life. Next I expect a hard time to connect this solution with my Homey system. No worries. Still learning new things after 74 years and it still feels good.

I suggest to close this topic and I will regularly check the correct forum topic on any future progress on the Homey Bose app.
