Alle producten van Aliexpress kosten vanaf 2021 minimaal 21% meer - tipsvoorjou.com

Changes with effect from 1 July 2021 (delayed due to COVID crisis). Exemption on importation for small consignments (22 euro) will be abolished, new VAT rules on supplies from non-EU countries will enter into effect. Local VAT will be due (either on the supply or on the importation). Rather complex set of rules, but this sums it up.

every order will be charged with VAT and very small orders will have a extra handling fee

Thank you !
There you go )

So who will charge the VAT? Ali, or when it passes customs? Because I can imagine when customs has to do it they’ll throw a processing fee on top like they do now for items over 22€.
So you order a 2€ part, which is 2.42€ with VAT, and then they charge you an extra 12€ for the processing fee. :unamused:

This was indd the issue in the past (I’ve had it once with an order of €100 from ALI to the Netherlands.

But now PostNL (dutch courier) is going to automate this process and “apperently” only going to ask a handling fee of €4 on top of the additional VAT of %21.

FWIW, at least on Aliexpress you can limit your searches to items shipped from European countries (France, Spain, Poland, etc),. You still have to pay additional VAT, but no additional handling fees (and if you’re lucky, no shipping costs).

€4 if you pay online up front, €7 if you pay at the postoffice actually…:frowning:

Ali has a system wich will automate the VAT payments with the EU.
Ordered last week and didn’t have to pay any additional handling fees by the courier…

From July 1, 2021, for commodity purchased from Banggood and delivered to the destination located in the European Union (EU), VAT has been included in its selling price and order value. You don’t need to pay additional tax. Banggood will declare and pay VAT in accordance with relevant policies and requirements. For more details, please visit the official website of the European Union.

Yes… Thank God we now know that “The soup is not eaten as hot when served” :face_with_hand_over_mouth::rofl:

Major sites like Aliexpress and Banggood include the taxes, so you don’t have to pay anything else, other webshops might not do that, so always be aware, otherwise, you will have to pay extra, not just the tax.
