Zone with "phantom device" can't be deleted

Hi All,
I recently bought a new Homey Pro (2023) for my apartment and moved the older Homey Pro (2016) to my weekend place, so when I installed the “old” one, it restored a backup with the devices from my apartment. I’ve manually removed all the apartment devices and zones … except for one, which can’t be deleted, as it claims to still have a device linked to it, which it doesn’t according to the app.
Does anybody have a way to find and remove such an invisible device?
Many thanks for any help!

Hi Roger, and welcome.

I just experienced exactly the same, with a Pro 19. Force kill the app & empty it’s cache didn’t make a difference.
Rebooting Homey did.
(Which is ridiculous as “solution” of course :man_shrugging:)

Thanks, Peter. Have rebooted the Homey Pro in question (the old one) so many times, with no affect. I’d agree that emptying the cache won’t help, as the issue exists on all three apps (iPhone, web, and Mac).

I deleted it using the web app, maybe this works for you as well?

Nope …

Use the API Playground to find the device

https://tools.developer.homey.app/tools/api-playground

and remove it there.

or

(But Why didn’t you start from scratch, removing all devices for a new start in a different location is fastest with a Factory reset.)

Hi Dijker,

Thanks for those two valuable suggestions. I don’t know enough about APIs to want to mess with the insides of the system, and the developer tools don’t show an extraneous device, either.

… and as to why I didn’t start from scratch: great question! If I’d known then what I know now.

I’ll keep searching. Thanks!
