Hello all,
Also I am a user from the SMA products within Homey and this includes also a battery.
Up to now I have been using the SMA website to get my goals in loading the batterij on my personal wishes. That however has also been very ⦠different.
I will EXPLAIN first : On the local Battery Manager I was always able to configure time-windows in where I planned to charge. Multiple windows without any problems, charging within that window with a by myself selected power-level.
From a certain moment onwards, that was no longer possible since SMA decided to āācontrolāā that from their Portal and the local ( on the Manager itself installed in my house ) control was stopped. All was still there but it simply didnāt work anymore. The SMA Portal did offer something instead but it takes a while before you know this, before you find this but OK. The when I found, and found how to deal with it, all was under control again by myself. This until I could move my whole SMA system to the new SMA Portal ( EnnexOS ) . Then it all finisched again since, ⦠not yet implemented onto that new portal⦠So for months without this capability. I found a solution for myself : I just placed an old 5-port HUB between my LAN-switch and the Battery-Invertor ( nothing else⦠) and this old HUB was connected to a power-plug that I could control. I could still program onto that local Battery Manager my older time-windows and power levels but they didnāt work when the LAN-connection was working towards that SMA (new) portal. But by pre-programming my windows to charge at my own wishes and then turning OFF the HUB power-supply, the LAN died and my Battery Manager was a single machine without LAN and then DID exactly what I wanted him to do and that is to charge with the windows Iāve previous programmed. Via my Homey it was easy to control the power from that HUB. So that was a complicated way but ⦠it was working. Believe somewhere december 2025, the Time-charge function from the new portal suddenly became available. Again searching how it works ( by yourself ) but OK, I found it. Then it was working fine again, but still, I need to DEFINE the time-windows and power levels I want my batterij to charge on my personal wishes ( Cheap prices since I use Dynamic Energy contract and in winter, when there is not SUN to charge, I need to charge from the GRID , prefarable in cheap windows ) . So all worked again since december 2025.
Now I am getting further in my configurations on my Homey. My charger for my EV works already intelligent at cheap night-moments and via special FLOW configuration I keep even the charging power under control to avoid a high Capacity Tarif peak ( In Belium we have this unbelievable stupid solution to raise prices if you just go to a high peak for only 15 minutes , ⦠A totally useless function for people like me with Dynamic Tarif since we do A LOT better. We consume energy when it is cheap and by that there is a lot available and they just WANT you to use that power and do not consume anything when prices are high, when there is less energy available . For me the main reason to state that the Capacity tarif in Belgium should NOT exist for all who take a Dynamic Tarif. It would be a great extra motivator to move to Dynamic Tarifs what they actually want all to do ⦠) Since some weeks I have my Capacity Tarif under ( better ) control via an intelligent Homey configuration.
All that INFO from above to come to the POINT regarding the current capabilities from the SMA App within Homey. From out of my Homey with this one TILE ( LIMIT THE ACTIVE POWER OUTPUT TO ⦠) I can control from Homey if my Home Battery is allowed to deliver all its capacity to my house or only a limited amount of power. That works fine.
But I can not control from out of Homey how much POWER this SMA Battery Manager should charge into the battery. There is simply no tile for this.
So as an END-user I ⦠REQUEST ā¦. to please provide that capability if technically possible. Technically I believe for sure it is possible but only ⦠how to get it done.
Since I feel it is possibly a MODBUS topic and by that I feel it might be a specific Registry that needs to be filled with a desired power level to charge and then that charging needs to be activated.
Naturally we need to be able to turn it off again to continue the standard function from the battery Manager and that is to deliver energy to the house.
So please get this small extra thing that is required.
What is my personal WORK around for the moment.
Well I can still program a charging window on my Battery Manager and define in there the charging power. But for that I need to go seperately into that device. Then I can again, as written before, ⦠put my old little useless HUB in between again and control the power from that HUB and by that control the LAN connection and by that, prevent SMA to block my personal desired charging windows. Complicated but it works. The only difficulty is that when I have no default window, I need to configure a large window with a specific charging level that I can only turn off and on via that trick through the HUB.
I would appreciate a modification from the SMA APP within Homey to make it possible to CHARGE the SMA battery fully via Homey.
THANKS in advance. Good luck in giving this to the user community.
Succes. Walter
