Please take a look at the end of my first post (link). There, I’ve documented the progress made in fixing the bugs. The only thing still missing right now is the battery data.
Thank you for your feedback and for documenting the progress you have made in fixing the bugs.
We discussed this with our engineering team, and unfortunately, the current product hardware does not support adding a battery level display function through OTA updates.
We really appreciate your suggestion, and we will consider adding this feature to our future product designs.
I’m not an app developer, but the battery capabilities actually needs to be integrated into the device driver. Something like this, as shown in the following example:
So, in my opinion, no OTA update is necessary.
Or does the sensor itself not provide this information? However, I haven’t seen a single Zigbee end device that can’t display its battery status.
Yes, this sensor itself does not have a battery level reporting function. The battery status information is not provided by the device, so it cannot be displayed through the app or gateway. It would require hardware and firmware support from the sensor side to add this function.
Seriously?
If that’s really the case, then the issues have been resolved. Thank you very much.
yes, Thank you for your follow-up.
Hi all
got one too so i will share my findings too ![]()
First test “tv stand”
Tried to put the device on my tv stand to detect my lazy ass on the couch for the light in the corner. didn’t work that well - my presence wasn’t always detected so the light went of while i was still there. Guess this is a “positioning error on my side” but like dirk mentioned - there are no indications for the settings
=> according to the paper manual provided in the box, for the Tuya App there is more provided than via homey app
I don’t know what’s possible to integrate in the homey app but to be able to have for example the “current micro motion energy value” or the user guide would be nice! I guess that would help positioning the device! (i really love the mounting base)
Next test “bathroom”
will keep you updated - let’s see how the device can handle humidity / mirrors / glass…
You can also get a Tuya Zigbee or MultiMode gateway and add the device via the official Tuya Homey app to use the extra functionality:
thx
yeah i know - also using the tuya local app for example for other tuya devices. but my goal as a developer would be, to provide the same functions also in the official zemismart app. pretty sure that would help the “the less tech-savvy users” ![]()
That app doesn’t support gateways though. I use the regular Tuya app by Drenso, works with any Tuya device
yes i get that. but zemismart has it’s own homey app. i’d love if they could integrate the features which are in the tuya app directly in the homey app so i don’t have to use the official tuya app at all ![]()
i use the tuya app to integrate devices, which don’t have a official homey app.
According to my survey (link), only 39% of participants use additional gateways to take advantage of their benefits. The remaining 61% of participants either don’t use additional gateways at all, or use them only for technical reasons or because there’s no other option. Ultimately, however, this 61% would prefer not to use an additional gateway at all.
I know you love additional gateways and you love cloud services, but I’d argue that most Homey users don’t want exactly that. So an additional gateway isn’t always the solution to every problem.
Why not just recommend throwing Homey in the corner and switching completely to Home Assistant? That kind of advice doesn’t make any sense to me either, sorry.
@Zemismart_Official, since updating the app to version 2.0.30 two days ago, I’ve been having problems with the sensor.
Although it still detects brightness, the presence alarm no longer works.
I’ve already performed a “repair,” but that didn’t solve the presence detection issue.
However, the sensor still indicates when motion has been detected by flashing red, but this information is not forwarded to Homey.
Here are a few screenshots that illustrate the problem:
(Screenshots from the Homey smartphone app)
(Screenshot of Developer Tools → Devices)
Because I keep track of when I install, delete, or update each app, I can pinpoint exactly when I installed the latest version 2.0.30 of the Homey Zemismart app. This was on September 3, 26, at 2:51 p.m.:
Since then, the presence detection has not been working.

@Rick_D, are you having the same problems?
Hi Dirk
Unfortunately i can’t tell → my sensor died a heroic death falling from the ceiling (my fault)… just retested to check but there is not even a red flash…
I have received your feedback and have submitted it to our technical team. We will try to reproduce the issue and investigate whether there are any problems causing this behavior.
Hi, I really enjoyed your review, it’s great to see such detailed and honest testing.
Would you be interested in trying our Repenic Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat as well?
Unfortunately, our other products are designed specifically for the UK market, so the thermostat is the one we think would be most relevant for you.
We’d be very happy to provide one for review. And please feel free to be completely honest, we welcome both positive and negative feedback, and we won’t interfere with the content or outcome of your review in any way.
If you’re interested, just let me know and I’d be happy to arrange it.
Is that a Tuya device? Those are already supported by Homey with the Tuya app
You might want to create a driver for the device in the Repenic app which tells the users to install the Tuya app in the pair.hrml, might be easier to understand for users.
Please try our beta version using the following link:
Please let us know if you encounter any issues during testing.
I’ve already passed it on to our engineer to look into. Really appreciate the suggestion!
@Zemismart_Official, the sensor is working properly again. Thx!
