No, you are not the only one. I have this sensor in Home Assistant and have the same issue you are having. Works when it wants too.

I’ve read presence sensors (can) send a shitload of status updates, possibly chocking (parts of) your zigbee mesh.
The majority of presence sensors work with wifi for a reason.
I have read that too but I will say I have several different Zigbee presence sensors by several different companies and the Sonoff is the only one to give me issues like this. Doesn’t matter if I am using Habitat, Home Assistant or Homey Pro.
The 2 best ones I have are the Everything Presence Lite which uses Wifi and the Aqara FP1E which uses Zigbee.
