I’ve four Sonoff SNZB-04 contact sensors (via zigbee2mqtt), and they turn out to be flaky, just like you describe. With usual opening/closing doors (no sliding doors here). Perhaps it helps if the door approaches the sensor differently; try turning the sensor 90°.
