[PC-App-Windows] HomeWindow – control your Homey Pro from the Windows taskbar

Wow! Really quick response. Confirm both of the new functions show up on the 0.4.6 and work perfectly. Really appreciate it.

A small question: I don’t understand why the devices often show more details than what I select (and show it/them even before my selection).

For example: Car charger. The first two details (temp 28,3 and humidity 36,84%) show up even though I have only selected the last 2 details (power and current limit).

As displayed in Homey

The multi-touch function for scrolling works perfectly, thank you for that! I was wondering if the EV charger could also get its own energy consumption tab, similar to the solar panels, and possibly be integrated into the taskbar as well. Also, I noticed that in version 0.4.6, the notification bar no longer shows ‘Homewindow’, but instead displays a file name (presumably for the logo including the app name). Thanks again for all the quick updates and for creating this app!

@Hiep_Hoang Good catch, thanks for the screenshots! Your charger has no on/off state of its own, so HomeWindow showed temperature and humidity as its status and put your chosen details after them. In HomeWindow 0.4.7 the details you pick take their place, so the tile shows just power and current limit. It updates itself.

@Wouter_M Thanks, glad the touch scrolling works! The “NotifyIconGeneratedAumid” title is fixed in HomeWindow 0.4.7: HomeWindow now registers its own name with Windows, so notifications say HomeWindow again. A separate view for the EV charger, also in the taskbar strip, is a nice idea; I’ll look into it.

HomeWindow 0.4.7 is updated with a few more things since this morning:

  • @Wouter_M Your EV charger now has its own card on the Energy page: the power going into the car and, if the charger reports it, the car’s charge. The totals show what the car charged today and this month. In the taskbar widget (that’s the new name for the strip) it shows while the car charges; switch it on under Settings → Appearance → What the taskbar widget shows → EV charger.
  • Device icons from Homey: devices now show the icon they have in Homey, including one you picked in the Homey app. An icon you chose in HomeWindow still comes first, and Settings → Appearance → Icons from Homey switches it off.

If you already updated to 0.4.7 this morning, HomeWindow won’t fetch it again by itself; download it once more from the latest release. I’ve also updated the first post with new screenshots.

Confirm that the temperature and humidity are now gone.

  1. It is strange that Homey does have a ON/OFF button (Start/Stop charge), see the screenshot in my original post, but your app does not show one. Any explanation?

  2. I’d like to report a bug in the Energy tab. It shows car charger as using (top) kwh, but in fact, it should be 0kwh. Sunday was the last time I charged.

Homey Energy tab shows correctly.

A small suggestion if I may for the live taskbar widget

It would be great to show dynamically what are the CURRENT top two 2-3 devices are drawing (in kW) in addition to the total kW. In a sense, it would eliminate the need to show the EV charger since when it charges, it would automatically be among the top 2-3.

Also, you may consider showing kW (e.g., 3.1kW) instead of W (e.g. 3182W)

@Hiep_Hoang Thanks for checking, and for the screenshots!

Start/Stop button: your charger doesn’t use the usual on/off; it starts and stops charging with a “charging” switch of its own, which the Homey app uses as its button. HomeWindow only looked for on/off. In HomeWindow 0.4.8 the charger’s tile has the same button, so you can start and stop charging from it.

Car charger in “Use today per device”: most likely your charger counts the kWh of the last session (42.4 kWh), and that counter dropped to 0 for a moment and came back. HomeWindow took the jump back up as new use. 0.4.8 ignores a counter that drops out and comes back, and for a charger it now reads the same kWh meter Homey Energy uses. If it still shows up on a day you haven’t charged, please let me know.

kW instead of W: in HomeWindow 0.4.8 you can choose it under Settings → Appearance → Power → kW from 1000 W. 3182 W then reads 3.2 kW, in the taskbar widget and everywhere else.

Showing the current top consumers in the taskbar widget is a nice idea; I’ll look into it.

0.4.8 is out now; HomeWindow updates itself.

Confirming that the Car charger in “Use today per device” and kW instead of W work very well.

Not sure about the car charger. I don’t see any button.

Checked everything today and it looks great! It’s also very convenient that it shows kW instead of wattage, which saves some space on the taskbar  Could a ‘Home battery status’ section be added to the overview, showing the percentage, and whether it’s charging or discharging? Also, I was wondering if there could be an option in the overview to integrate the latest snapshots from connected cameras, like Eufy,Reolink or Ring etc.

Really looking forward to hearing what’s possible

Can you add MIDI support and keyboard shortcuts, so I can control devices with something that doesn’t have to be connected to Homey Pro itself?

Love the app, particularly the Batteries section. Just nice and clean.
