Missing basic feature - device firmware updates

Athom/Homey is releasing new HW and platforms every now and then but there seems to be one crucial piece missing (at least IMHO) since day one:
Firmware (FW) updates!
Is there any plan whatsoever to implement that feature to Homey regardless of flavor/model?

As HA seems to be able to manage that for many HW’s that shouldn’t be impossible… Or?

The container repository is updated. So just update the container from version :latest if needed.

That’s the same way you have to do using HA Docker container.

Ahhh… We’re talking about two different things here…
My bad, sry, I could have been more clear on that!!

I mean FW for the devices (plugs, bulbs, switches, …, …)

Ah, ok. devices

In most cases you still need the manufacturers hub to update device FW. There are already several threads about it discussing the pro/cons and why’s

As said: HA can manage at least few vendors FW without problem.
IKEA, Sonoff, Ledvance…

When do you know that the container repository have an update and we need to update it?

The SHS version can send you an update push message. It’s the same way like HomeyPro works. Activate push message for Timeline update entries (settings/timeline/updates). Then you can update the container (manually).

Educated guess: Settings / General / Updates > Check for updates

Because SHS cannot perform auto updates, I’m pretty sure updates will be announced @ timeline, just like when you’ve turned off firmware updates @ physical Homeys.

Firmware updates are announced at Slack (Athom channel) first:
