Blue Monday?
Or should we install the LG App
This has nothing to do with your Android or device brand. The V9 beta version was simply overwritten with the default update… This is obviously the case according to the latest posts.
We’re excited to introduce the Light Widget in Dashboards, available with the latest Beta release, 9.0.0.1584!
There are 3 different kinds of lights widgets:
We hope you enjoy this new widget!
Sweet!
Looks a bit like the homey tiles back in 2016😉
Nice!
I suppose, hope , this is just the start and some options will follow but for now I’m already happy with it.
Comments:
@Harwin I’m actually a little disappointed looks nice. But you can only adjust on, off or dim level of one or more lights. This feature takes up quite a lot of space on the dash. I had hoped for a shortcut to all your lights, like a climate shortcut.
@Steven_Bareman no need to be disappointed. We have the controls buttons you want on our radar Until then, use this widget to fill up the empty space
Hi there, I believe there is a bug. I cannot select zones like first floor or ground floor for the lights widget.
Hahaha, I thought the same!
I found a bug again
At least on the iOS app (haven’t checked Android yet).
While working on a widget, I added a setting with the number
type where the minimum value is greater than 0
, let’s say 10
. Now, it’s impossible to enter any number because as soon as you type a digit, the app immediately checks the value, determines it’s less than the minimum of 10
, and removes the input.
Edit:
I realized I hadn’t updated to the latest beta version, and it’s slightly better now but still not ideal.
You now get an error message as soon as the user types an incorrect number. However, this message shows up even if you type, say, 5 (when the minimum is 10), which is a bit too aggressive since you might actually intend to type 50.
Additionally, if the minimum value is 20 and you type 30, it’s difficult to lower it. For example, hitting backspace leaves you with 3, which is below the minimum of 20, so it won’t allow it.
Same for me. It seems you can only select zones that have light devices in them. I also want to add “mother”-zones even though there are no lights in that particular zone, but the sub-zones do.
I really like this but wouldn’t mind whatsoever if the tile on the dashboard represent the status of an underlying set of lights or zone and clicking somewhere on the tile (The text maybe) would take me to a more detailed display of the lights/zone, like the detailed view on the devices tab in the app.
So, A display a detailed overview of the underlying devices/zone, B toggles on/off and C dims.
Detailed view:
Awesome!
Occupational deformity so sorry in advance, but a minor detail for your UX/UI guys to ponder over:
The ON state of the light widgets does not seem clear to me right now.
Once you click “OFF” the light is clearly off because the entire card dims, but when the light is on and you open the dashboard I feel like the design is a bit confusing for the user.
The main problem is the toggle I think: when it’s on it looks a bit “disabled” in the current design.
For example the lights to the right of the above screenshot show the Enhanced Device Widget implementation of lights. The design overall is admittedly uglier, but at least here you very clearly know if the light is on or off.
Keep up the good work!
