Also for iOS and Android, if I get there, please submit both suggestions and bugs so they can be as useful as possible. There are quite a few guardrails in place from Apple/Google for Auto/Carplay apps but I’ll try my best to make them safe for driving but still useful.
I’ll update once I’ve looked into Android and Android Auto. New territory for me
That would be great, @CerveloRS.
I would most definitely be willing to help in testing, suggesting, bug reporting, etc…
Feel free to contact me when you’ve looked into it in time.
You can’t in the current release. Works for generic garagedoor openers like the Meross MSG100 as it both holds the trigger and the open/close sensor. Assuming your solution would fall back to the generic icon and just a flashing icon to show device triggerede. Meaning you could open/close but it wouldn’t show meaningful icon or state.
In next release, expected tomorrow pending Apples review, I’ve added the option of overriding icons so the user can chose what state to watch and the two icons for the states. This will apply of course not only to garagedoors, but any supported device.
Yes, I can see a generic device, and the button press works correctly.
It would be even better if the device exposed its current status and included a proper icon, as that would make the integration feel much more complete and user-friendly.
If I create a virtual device (with Device Capabilities app) for my Shelly and configure it to emulate a device such as a Meross MSG100, what settings would I need to use? Do you think that would work?
Update: I was able to create a virtul device and it works
With the update currently in review, expected live tomorrow, one will be able to override the icon and what property counts as state. Ill update the thread once its live for anyone to test.
Update for Android version. App is ready for deployment but Googles verification process for new developers takes a few days. This is out of my control, so best I can do is to drop a note here soon as its ready. I’ll let you know. Thank you for your support.
As for the iOS / CarPlay version now supporting icon and state override: Review took a bit more time on this version compared to the others. Assuming its due to me pushing during the weekend. Should be in AppStore later today.
Sounds great, @CerveloRS!
You are lightning fast..
If you would like to have it tested before it goes public in the Play Store, feel free to share an .apk. I would be happy to test.
You’re added to the closed trial. Might take a few days still until you actually get it as Google needs to review first. With Apple it usually takes 24-48 hours. Not sure how fast Google is, but you should receive a notification as soon as its ready.
Do we automatically see the app when we check in the Play Store for updates?
Or is there a link you can share or do you have a name we can search for?
Just looking for the way that the app will come to us…
I am not 100% sure how Google handles it, but if its like Apple, they will notify you with instructions as soon as they have approved the app. Its still in review at google and sadly there is no way to speed it up. Just need to wait for them to review it. Ill monitor it.
With apple it usually takes 24-48 hours but the latest release of the iOS version has been in review for a few days now. Thankfully that one moved from waiting review to in review yesterday so hopefully its out there soon
