Hue is a bit odd when it comes to color settings.

I’ve read about that as well, but soon™ can mean a few months, or even a few years 
You can use the “Exclude” field for those situations.
So when a device becomes unavailable, it gets excluded from grouped commands and listeners after [xxx] seconds.
I think 5 or 10 minutes will be a good start.
I didn’t run tests yet with unavailable / available and deleted / re-added devices.
